With tournament theory aye but the idea of relative performance being all that matters is virtually a truism, hence the phrase 'you can only beat whats in front of you' etc.

Yeah, but he can't. Which is actually measuring him against his opponents, whereas you were measuring him against his team mates.

This is mint btw, keep them coming.

Its a team game.

You're full of revealing insight today.

And another thing HF, Chelsea arent just carrying you against Blackburn, they are also carrying me and alex since Obertan is as shit as Simpson and R Taylor (backed up by all the ratings in the press and on here etc). We've got 3 shit players but are 4th.

Sounds to me like you are saying the league is shit in absolute terms.

Thought you were comparing Obertan to his team mates rather than the opposition.

All at the same time, his team mates are undefeated so if he's at least as good as the next shittest player and the overall team is unbeaten then relatively he can not logically be shit. Unless the premier league is shit.

Worst logic ever.

I'm pretty fucking shit, but I reckon Chelsea could carry me if they were playing Blackburn.

Bollocks. We are carrying the entire right side of the team are we? The shit logic is all yours.

Yes.

Look at the heatmaps on Guardian.

heatn.jpg

16% of tackles on the right.

32% on the left.

 All that says is we attacked more through Jonas who had a blinder.

No, it's the tackles map, not posession.

possession*

I bet you've got a chart in the bathroom detailing time taken having a shite, moisture and length.

Seeing defenders usually are positioned in front of Squidward, he will at least know who he should be beating.

No-one's tried arguing with me I take too long to produce dry, short shits, but if they do I'd look at the evidence for sure.

Sorry i just dismissed it instantly as irrelevant. Which it is even on reflection, where we tackle only proves where the opposition might have attacked more at best. The only way that statistic would reveal anything about the weakness of our right is if there was an identical frequency and 'type' of attack from Spurs down both flanks throughout the match,

You know that already though HF.

Alex made the linguistic joke already, the serious point still stands.

Think looking at individual performances, we are carrying the right-side a bit*.

*Or relatively.

And reflects that most of Spuds attack goes through Bale who played on their right.

It's a good point and could contribute to the heavy bias, unfortunately, looking at where Spurs played the ball using their passing heat map shhows that only 20% went down their right while 24% went down the left.

Not a great deal of difference, but if you're going to take anything from it, you'd have to say they recognised our weakness on the right and tried to expose it more during the game, despite having set up initially to try and expose Rtaylor with their best player on the right..
