Christmas Tree 4679
What number of goals does he have to score this season (if he stays fit of course) to be considered a premiership player? I'm going to say more than 12. Only 5 got more than 13 last year so 12 or 13 would be a decent return. You have to go back to 2003 to find the last striker to score more than 13 for us in a season. Gejon 2
Premiership goals? Not sure a great amount of strikers scored more than 12 last season. Edit: sorry just read CT's post properly, yeah 13 is a decent amount for a player considering 5 players out of 40 forwards scored that amount last season. I'm going to say more than 12. If scoring goals is all he contributes then he needs to hit twenty. If he offered the team anything else then that figure would be less but he doesnt, the rest if his game is non existent. Its the same as what Bent gets thrown at him and he offers a million times more than what Best does in terms of movement and creating space for others. Bellamy never scored bucket loads for us but he offered a lot to the team.
Dr Gloom 21783
12-15 goals in the league would be a canny return frm a player that clearly isn't rated by th majority that have seen him play.

A bit like Nolan you could say If he scored 20 i would highly recommend we sell him for £24m and would be in awe of Pardew.

I thought he might have got into low double figures but that would be about it. Obviously goal scoring wasn't Bellamy's primary function in the team and he played alongside a goal scorer in Shearer. If he scored more than 20 I would think we could probably squeeze a good thirty million out of the bin dippers but there's no chance of it happening because he's shite. Fwiw I think if he plays most of the season I think he'll manage low double figures.
Kitman 2204
Fwiw I think if he plays most of the season I think he'll manage low double figures. Which wouldn't be too bad as long as he was contributing in other areas, and other people were scoring goals. I haven't seen enough of him to comment but people are saying his all round play is pretty limited.

I haven't seen enough of him to comment but people are saying his all round play is pretty limited. That's exactly my point. Watching him in the last two games you could see two things. Firstly that he is inconsistent (his finishing in the cup was woefull) and secondly that he offers nothing else to the team.
Happy Face 29
How many starts for us in the prem? Is it 8 goals from 16 starts in the prem then? I think it was Jonny that was questioning his consistency which i think might be a bit unfair. He's going to get a lot of games this season and a run in the side so we'll see if he can either keep his 1 in 2 ratio up or find some better form. He hasnt had a run in the side so its not fair to criticise his level of consistency just yet. The reason i focus on this is because clearly he is not the most talented of footballers so if he can become consistent in his performances it will be a great help. Just not consistently shite. Its 8 goals in 10 starts in the PL (3 sub appearances). He's usually subbed too so his goals to minutes ratio will be pretty good. Up there with Michael Owen's no doubt. Howmanheyman 32705
#leonbestismint His biggest asset is he doesn't realise just how limited, (I'm being nice), he is and he plugs away till he eventually gets one. He'll probably be our top scorer.
Monroe Transfer 0
He gets too much stick tbh, I think people think he is (want him to be?) worse than he is. Don't get me wrong, he's no Rooney.

StevenL 0
Starting to win me over abit, although heading a ball at Given and then kicking the ball at him when he's on the floor isn't the best bit of striking I've ever seen. Still play him ahead of Ameobi every week though. Love the SAF/Mancini part of that video.

When you have a £50m striker missing an open goal we can excuse Best for making the most of putting a chance away the same weekend
