Dr Gloom 22160
Funny like how shola has waited his whole career to be our first choice striker and even now when he's in his prime and we have the worst bunch of strikers on our books in a generation he finds himself behind the likes of leon best. Â Personally I think Best is the right type of player to play the lone role with HBA in the hole. Decent in the air, not bad with back to goal and yet comfortable playing on the shoulder of defenders. Â What we need is a mark 2 version of him. But to be honest I'm not sure who that is. Maybe an exchange deal for one of their strikers. Ya kna, the ones that are out of form and out of favour atm...............? Â Â Â

Monroe Transfer 0
hoping that he'll get a goal and everything will fall into place and it just doesnt look like happening for him  People were saying that when he first joined. He had that game against Man City in which he scored twice and most thought he'd kick on from there but it just hasn't happened. He also scored in the cup for them this season and has barely looked like scoring since.  Without a doubt they messed up paying that much for him. He's a) never going to be £35m worth in terms of quality and not suited to how they're playing.  He's a good player and I'd have him back although I quite like how we're set up now - i.e. not basing the team around one man up front. More variety in our play and if you ask me more attractive play to watch as well.  He had a very good half season. As did Nolan and Barton. Those three worked well in tandem. Even if you discard his hat-trick vs Villa he still got 8 goals before his injury which is impressive. It's quite possible though that his form would have dropped off had he remained (and/or not had his injury). No-one knew if he could deliver the goods consistently for a entire top flight season. Utter madness on Liverpool's part to spend so much money on half a season.   edit; and whilst he's there, long may it continue. I hope Enrique does badly too but that's one wish too far. loonyTOON 10
Trapattoni pretty much having a crack at Leon Best's work ethic on the pitch.  'Leon is not here because we have other three four strikers with other qualities. Leon knows why. I don’t forget him but he knows why I need other attitudes.  'But on the there is only one ball. And winning football is about 11 players running for 90 minutes, or 94 minutes, with a winning mentality. I cannot have players who just wait for the ball.  'We need a team, we need work and commitment. That is football. We need this mentality because with our mentality anything is possible. We cannot afford to have players standing there waiting for the ball.  'Leon knows why he is not here. We are also missing Keith Treacy and he knows. The players understand why. I tell them to their face, not through the newspapers.’  So um.....Robbie Keane runs more than Best? Does he actually watch our games?  Feel bad for Best after this, because I think his work rate is great for a 'big' forward. What does he have to do to get a call-up, especially with his goal/game ratio??
Monroe Transfer 0
I've not seen Best play for Ireland so for all I know he doesn't do enough when playing for them. Â However you're spot on, he's not been watching our matches because if he did he wouldn't be saying such things. He's been creating chances and scoring goals. There isn't an Irish striker in better form really. No idea what Keane is up to (says it all really) and Long hasn't done much.
Papa Lazaru 0
There's a question mark over Best rarely ever finishing 90 mins in the prem, but he's never really struck me as somebody who doesn't work hard enough for the team. Thought he had an impressive game against Wolves, as he did against Blackburn and i'm thinking he doesn't score when he has a good game and gets the goals in the games where you think he hasn't done much at all! Monroe Transfer 0
He's showing a willingness to set up goal-scoring opportunities. He's quite unselfish which isn't always a good thing. Finishing is a bit inconsistent. Â In all honesty - I am convinced. I really do rate him. I'd be totally satisfied if it was him, Ba, a top striker, and a youth striker like Sammy Ameobi or Airey or whoever. As it is I'm actually comfortable enough with just Ba and Ameobi given how things have gone so far. My worries concern injuries and the ACN. Only hope he decides he'll ram those words back down his throat by continuing to put a shift in for us and getting recognition in the Prem.
