Dr Gloom 21802
Well that was one of the worst transfer windows in living memory. Disgusting even by Ashley's standards. If you look at the squad on paper, it looks poorer than the one that was relegated. It actually looks poorer than the one that won promotion from the championship. We have no leaders left in the squad. Next to no englishman. None of the new signings have more than half a season experience in the premier league. And we didn't sign a striker other than ba. This is the worst set of strikers I can think of. So, am I having a massive knee jerk reaction or are you worried too? Matt 0
The spell over Christmas and New Year could be particularly horrendous. This is what happens when Leon Best actually controls a ball with his first touch for once.
Christmas Tree 4679
Bearing in mind you were going to do a merry dance and hail the window as Glorious 3 hours ago if we'd signed a striker......I think Knee jerk.

Tooj 17
Knee-jerkism IMO. There's a few teams in the league who are worse off than us squad wise. Plus, there's no way the squad we had in the Championship is better than this one.
Tom 14011
We'll be flirting with relegation and not getting a proper striker in is a gamble - Sunderland got Bendtner for free for fucks sake! We were offered Macheda & Diouf on loan from Manchester United, we were offered Roux & Bendtner. They didn't want to spend, if they did they could have put money forward & got Gervinho or Erdinc. We haven't played well this season we've got results but teams will figure us out. Who's the goal scorer?
duo 0
Difficult to see where the goals are going to come. People forget we were close to being dragged into it last season, what saved us was our early form with Carroll in the side. So yeah - it is a concern. Whilst we've had some decent results of late I don't think we've played well. Edited August 31, 2011 by duo
Dr Gloom 21802
Where are the strikers? Who will score the goals needed to keep us up? Who will play centre half if colo and taylor pick up injuries. I'm conscious that there is an element of knee jerk to this - I'm seething yet again on deadline day - but I'm not convinced we won't be down in the relegation mix. Our rivals have added quality. Our squad looks poorer than the one that finished 12th last time round.
Deano 0
Team negative/miserable/pessimist will be reveling in this tonight. Im not worried at all. I think we will gel into a very creative and hardworking kinda brand. Goals from the whole team making up for lack of firepower. But that presents a challenge to all the lads who can play upfront. We will still finish top 10 this year.

duo 0
We will still finish top 10 this year. You're dreaming. Goals are the ONLY thing that keeps you in this league hence why most clubs spend the most of strikers. And we spent nought.
Dr Gloom 21802
Oh yeah Deano, I'm chuffed we didn't sign anyone. Fuck off you insufferable fool. Whether we get caught up in the relegation battle or not, one thing is clear - rather than look to progress, ashley has set the stall out to survive. Depressing lack of ambition with 35m in the bank. sweetleftpeg 0
We'll be alright, but I think it'll be hard work. As long as you win at home, that's the key. Worry for me is the fixation with Ben Arfa as the great hope, when he's potentially made of glass.
Guest Your Name Here
If Ben Arfa stays fit we should create enough chances to avoid getting dragged into the relegation fight. If he doesn’t (or fails to find his form after a year out injured) trouble beckons. The first choice eleven look OK - if you presume the players we have signed aren’t going to live up to their bargain basement price tags - but the squad is thinner than ever and injuries and suspensions could leave us fielding one of the weakest sides in the division. The bottom line is if you don’t invest money in squad development you go backwards and we can’t buck the trend forever, at some point our negative investment will catch up with us. I don’t think we’ll go down this season but if we get dragged into the dogfight the shitty foundations on which the club is now built will crumble. Carroll was still unproven at the top level though when we had him in The Championship, if you're comparing him to say Ba at that point, then Ba has proven over his career he can cut it at the top level. Tooj 17
Also, Barton done fuck all for us in The Championship and hadn't really done anything for us (barring a brief flirtation under Keegan), and Ben Arfa's better than Nolan...
duo 0
Lovenkrands is getting into the starting team - that alone tells you our first choice eleven is not good enough.
