The next one says that so they probably all do.

Yup, all indicating that Sochaux have brought in Camara after failing to get hold of Gradel. So is that the green light for Maiga? Most probably, last quotes I saw from the Sochaux chairman indicated that they had an offer from Newcastle but the player would be 'non-transferrable' until they had a replacement. Considering there was no mention that the offer was unsatisfactory, and in light of how he has blasted us for not offering enough before now, I presume that the offer must now be a decent one.

Be interesting today how this goes, our spend this summer is now 12.3million and our outgoings are 12.million. We have spent 300k on transfers and I can't see us spending more.

Pards seems to be heavily hinting that we'll see a new striker and midfielder before day is out.

Interesting but he also said we'd have LB by Sunderland game. Hopefully not Macheda.

I guess that that Camara wasn't his replacement then...

Sochaux have insisted that they will not be selling forward Modibo Maiga on transfer deadline day.

Newcastle had been hoping to land the 23-year-old, who had previously gone on strike to try and force through a move to the North East.

Sochaux, who earlier this month threatened to report Newcastle to Fifa, confirmed that they were considering a bid but the French club insisted that they would only sell if they had a replacement.

They wanted Leeds United's Max Gradel but he has opted for their Ligue 1 rivals St Etienne and that means Sochaux are not planning on letting Maiga leave.

"If we had found a successor, he would have gone," Sochaux chairman Alexander Lacombe said, admitting he could instead leave in January.

"If we find a replacement in December then, yes he could leave in the winter."

Lacombe admitted they failed to get Gradel, saying: "On the one hand it would have been a disadvantage as he is due to play in the African Cup of Nations.

"But it is up to Leeds, they are the selling club."

Great. Might avoid SSN now, worried we'll end up with Macheda.
