I think when you have someone like Stevie, who has been pissed around by our regime more than anyone, telling you the way it is, you have to listen imo.

You absolute patronising cunt! :icon_lol:

I'd go easy on trying to induct Stevie into 'team positive' as well you utter mong!

Oh dear

Aye, oh dear. Your responses were perfectly pre-empted. :icon_lol:

Apparently they're in for SWP too. Good little team in the making. Handling Taarabt and Barton will be an interesting challenge for Warnock.

Boothroyd and Dudley Campbell up front??

Would you have said that if we had signed them??

Read the underlined words.

Taarabt deemed not good enough by Spurs and no real prem experience

SWP perennial bench warmer for the last 4 years, he might turn out ok

Barton In it for the money, ticking time bomb

Cuddly Dudley and Boothroyd, pleeaasse

Some sanctimonious shite getting posted by some of you lot on twitter this afternoon mind. Fuck me.

As for CT, I can only imagine his wife bought him a season ticket to give her a couple of hours every other week where her and the kids don't have to put up with his fucking drivel.

Wahey! Ginge pops in.

Calendar on the fridge with all NUFC home fixtures on. "Quiet time" written next to them.

I noticed that McNally & Luke Edwards are tweeting anti-Barton comments and Caulkin & Bird are tweeting anti-Ashley/Llambias comments.

Says everything tbh.

Add Brenner to the first group. Some people get it, some don't. That's life.

Cant understand why yet again people are trying to over complicate this sorry tale.

He was offered a contract in Jan. Verbally agreed then renaged.

He then slagged his employers off at talk ins and via twitter.

He was then told he wasnt getting a new contract and could go.

He then used twitter to cause even more problems prompting the free transfer.

Unfortunately for Joey, even on a free virtually every premiership club decided to stay clear.

Was a great player last season and may have done so again this season but all of the above could have been avoided had he just signed the deal on the table in January.

I think a lot of this is down to him believing his own hype combined with his slime ball agent pissing in his ear all summer.

Think he will regret this move very very soon, never mind the relative worship he got around here compared to the abuse he will get down south.

Wasn't it the club who went back on the verbally agreed deal?

Not according to Joeys agent.

Ah yes, the ever believable Willie McKay...

Aye and what would McKay have to gain by that exactly :icon_lol: ffs

If the Telegraph is to be believed he's gained about £600K. A damned sight more than if Joey had re-signed for us.

Someone like Willie McKay or Paul Stretford can manipulate players, especially thick impressionable ones like Wayne Rooney. I can't imagine they could manipulate Barton, he has got what he wanted, I think ideally he'd want the contract he has now but with us. Fuck him, don't want to hear his name again.

I agree with that bit in bold. And don't you think he'd have been deserving of it had he got it?

What £100,000 a week. I don't think Messi is worth that. Really given the majority of his time here £40000 should've been acceptable but 60k for him was more than a fair offer.

I agree with you it makes no business sense, it's pathetic from the board fucking shows how little they know about football when they're clearly negotiating with other clubs, agents and players, like it's a fucking sports wholesalers when it's a completely different business, with different principles. Ashley is an arsehole, but understanding the way they think and operate it makes sense to me why they removed the offer, Dave Whelan at Wigan said he's the biggest cunt in business, and you can see why. Shambolic from all parties. Time to move on, fuck them all.

He's not on £100K a week man. :icon_lol:

How do you know? £80k at least.

Twitter man :icon_lol: I put these quotes up an hour ago, as a spoof, and I'm seeing them quoted everywhere now, people thinking they're off Sky or something.

Leazeslad Steve

"Great new challenge for me coming to an ambitious club like QPR. I'd have love to have stayed for those fans, they really deserve a lot better than what they've had to deal with, but I'll remain a fan of the club and will look back at the majority of my time there with fond memories. It's all about securing QPR's place in this division now, I've spoken to Neil and I'm excited by his plans." Joey Barton

It'll be £80K tops and I bet it's a lot closer to £60K.

I don't know but neither does anyone. That's why the whole "he's a greedy cunt" arguement is just plain ridiculous. Would your opinion of him change if he was earning less than he was on here?

And before you say he's not - we simply don't know, do we?

Tom reckons Joey could have retired years ago! :icon_lol:

I guarantee it'll be nearer 100k than 80k myself. Tom is right.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Barton expressed his delight at the move, commenting: "It's been quite a whirlwind, so to get things finally sorted and draw a line under it all is a great relief.

"The ambition of the Club really impressed me.

"There's obviously a great set of lads here already and that's why they had such a great season in the Championship.

"The gaffer is talking about adding two or three more bodies and that, combined with the potential of the Club and the new owners' ambitions, bodes really well for the future."

After moving to St James' Park from Manchester City in June 2007, Barton spent four years at St James Park, making 84 appearances in all competitions and scoring eight goals.

Warnock believes Barton's arrival will be key to the R's hopes this season, adding: "We've got a very, very good player on our hands.

"He's coming here to show people what he can do. He wants to get back into the England team.

"He's very enthusiastic. People will say one or two things about him, but they've said stuff about me in the past too, so I won't worry about that."

The R's Manager added: "He's a winner. Even without the armband on, he's a captain every week.

"He's a lot better play than people give him credit for. Hopefully we can harness all his positive characteristics and get the best out of him.

"I think with Tony's backing and Amit coming back on board this is a really positive step for the Football Club."

Barton will wear the number 17 shirt

Is he fuck right. You live within your means - everyone does.

Aye Joey earns a damned sight more than you or I do but without doubt his outgoings will be considerably more too. Plus he has 40 years of retirement to invest for.

Any footballer of his age, status and history could have. That's just basic maths. :icon_lol:

Tom are you drunk or something? This twitter crack is reeking.

"Joey should have based his decision on fan kisses and cuddles. No one kissed and cuddled him like us and he left."

Get to see much football on that high horse Gemmill? :icon_lol:

Barton's probably on about £60k/week + a £2m signing on fee stretched out over the length of his contract.

He's gone, he's gone, he's gone, he's gone, he's gone, he's gone, he's goooooone.

Oh, mocking bird have you ever heard, words that I've never heard?

The only thing I want to say is that people should stop trying to shoe-horn this episode into their pre-defined views of the club. It doesnt represent much when you look at all the facts.

Luke Edwards article sums it all up for me.

I'll you what Craig, I've had my hissy fit & the toys are out the pram, all consequences of being emotionally involved with this club & everyone's been there at some point over numerous subjects.

I'm going to wash my hands with it to be honest as hammering words on a keyboard isn't really going to change things, more likely it's going to cause me to fall out with people I would otherwise enjoy decent crack with.

My naiveties allowed me to harbour a belief, perhaps a subtle belief that not every footballer was exactly the same however he wanted his £9m rather than the £3m Newcastle would've given him, his choice. ''Common sense''

Goodbye Joey, goodbye Joey Barton thread
