Craig Bellamy

SSN today said that he is most likely to be out of the door due to been left out the pre-season tour. I also saw him score a good goal in one of their pre season games.

I would imagine they would want him off their books this summer, and would take a cut price to shift him. Would you take Bellamy back? And what would you be happy in the club paying for him?

Imo I think he would be quality as well as bringing in Erdinger. Puts pressure on Ba et co to perform, and could also be used coming off the wings. I would be happy for the club to pay £4-5 mil for him.

Over 30, no resale value.

What you'd do is irrelevent, its what the club's policy is that is the deterimining factor here.

Ashley woouldnt want him at his age, and Bellamy wouldnt drop his wages to 30k (max) to come back to a club where he's despised by at least half the supporters. Unless he's gone fuckin mad since May.

Paddock Lad is spot on. Bellamy is the anti-policy. I've said it before on here, most will disagree, but he's world class. Never failed to perform for Newcastle and was in the top three players in the 09-10 season.

I watched him for Cardiff against Swansea when I was in Amsterdam, and said to the wife (not that she cared) that he'd completely change the threat we pose.

Wages too dear. Too old for the policy and probably wants to wind down if sold on from Man City.

He would totally change our game. I remember when he was with us, and a European game against Mallorca I think, we were 2-1 down I think and needed to draw to get through and Bellers scored in the final minutes I think. I could be wrong like

Bellamy was a great player, but even though he is 30 he would still make a big difference to us. However, even I would say that due to his age, you have to pay attention to the financial implications and the fact that despite his great self motivation, he is likely to slow down in his last few years, which becomes even more significant when his whole game is built around his lighting pace.

I'd def sign him, but on a short contract, say 2 years, with extension options.

Id go with that like, not sure the club would (assuming the reason we sold Nolan was true).

Exactly what I said here, but it seems people don't know what the meaning is....I started this thread.

Bellemy is/was class. Personally I wouldn't quite put him in the world class bracket mainly to do with his personality/injuries rather than anything else. The great thing about Bellemy is that no matter how bad his team is playing he just gets on with it and almost always plays well.

That being said, the fact he's never lasted very long anywhere tells its own story.

I agree, but they made an exception for Sol Campbell. It is one of those policies which is absolutely sacrosanct, except when it is not.

Short term deal sounds fine to me, even if only for a year while the new guys settle - assuming he doesn't drive them all out!

Even if we offered him such a deal, which seems unlikely as people have said, would Bellamy accept it? He's probably good enough to get a longer deal elsewhere, plus I'd expect he harbours a grudge against the club after being forced out. Of course anything's possible in the kerraazy world of NUFC but I can't see it myself.

Sol Campbell was never going to be committed to NUFC. I would expect Bellamy to be though.

Bellamy was a lot closer to world class than Owen, I said the same before we signed Owen too.

Owen was a world class finisher at his peak but a world class player doesn't only contibute one thing to a team and Bellamy contributed a hell of a lot.

Disagree about Owen but his problem is he was world class when he was about 21. Ridiculous that we sold Bellamy for next to nowt and replaced him with Owen for £17m though (you could certainly argue the Owen we signed wasn't as good as the Bellamy we sold).

bellamy would transform our team, just as he did back in the early noughties. he's still a class act. even if he only played 30 games a season, he'd be worth a shout. problem as ever with our lot would be the wages
