NJS 4411
The notion of paying player's wages through monies taken from selling players is absolutely ridiculous and impossible to believe. Apart from the fact every single club on the planet does it to some extent. Transfer income is just club income like any other. I think its the implication that without selling, wages couldn't be met that is a bit unbelieveable as it would be reckless at best. Club A with mediocre league position and mediocre squad loses money after taking into consideration all money making revenue. Club A wants to challenge for Europe by improving its squad, which involves increasing the wage bill. Club A must surely lose more money? Cant understand how people still dont get this or what Im missing. I can see how a moderate at best transfer spend combined with championship revenues could equal a loss but there's no excuse for losing money in the premier unless you allow wagee and costs to approach or exceed 100% of revenues - paying wages at say 105% (which we aren't btw as far as In know) would require subsidy or sales. Phil 6
Assuming we don't sell them first. This whole wages thing is winding me right up. Not that the club are saying it, but that some people are that stupid they buy into it. Pardew and Llambias have both confirmed that the club are 're-investing' the Carroll money in transfer fees, wages, the training ground, and other assorted projects. So what is being 'bought into' here? Wages

LeazesMag 0
At the risk of sounding simple as out btw say we do start breaking even and then making profits etc i dont think we'll be in the position to be making profits of huge amounts so even that will be getting watered down (The amount we make) into going into different places like this £35 million is currently being done to precisely. And as people like TP and the other financial whizz kids are insisting that "we don't spend money we don't have" so maybe they can tell us how to put together a progressive football team by spending 2 or 3m quid a year on players [if that] ? If it isn't, and people are 'buying into' the idea that it is, then why are Pardew and Llambias saying that it is? Is that supposed to be some sort of smokescreen? Guest Your Name Here
The implication of all this is the club can only afford to bring in a couple of free transfers on unremarkable wages because we flogged Carroll for £35m, which has to be bollock. £35m isn't far short of half the club's turnover. It’s been like this since day one. The supporters are spun some ambiguous bullshit and confusion ensues. After a few years a semblance of the truth leaks out but by that time attention is focused on the latest unfathomable crap dribbling out of the club’s arse. This time last year we were all trying to work out what the fuck no capital outlay meant. Twelve months on and what the fuck ‘all the money will stay in the club’ means dominates the debate. In about a year’s time last season’s accounts will be in the public domain and we’ll know whether or not the club really did need to sell one of the country’s most promising young players for £35m to fund the a acquisition of a couple of free transfers. The problem is by that time there will be some other smokescreen clouding the horizon. The supporters are being played for fools.

I'm not laughing at your table, but that you never address or comment on football related issues, always financial ones. You fail to understand that we are not a small selling club running a low cost operation [although we are operating like one], but one of the biggest fanbases in europe where the football drives the finance. peasepud 59
last year loss 33.5m turnover 52.4m year before (08/09) loss 37.7m turnover 86.1m so in its simplest form, we should be able to roughly match the turnover of 08/09 now that we're back in the Prem. based on the fact that our outgoings were 85.9m that would have us showing a profit of 0.2m not a bad turnaround it has to be said and top marks to the club for managing that. Now take into account that we reduced operating costs when we were relegated from 98m to 74.4m then you're looking at a profit this year of 15m. Thats assuming they havent gone back up but it would be strange to imagine that we threw away those savings on getting promoted. Now the fun bit, 35m in from Carroll has paid the wages of Cabaye, Marveaux, Ba, Ben Arfa. In return we're saving 1.5m on Carrolls wages. 2m on Nolans, and say £2m on all the others that have left. So we're now upto a projected £20.5m profit. If theyre also saying that agents and sign on fees have been paid out of this then you would have to assume that we paid out these things in 08/09 as well which (even if we're conservative) could be say £5m then we're into a £25m potential profit. This bunch of cunts wont spend any more until we have sold someone, example being goodbye Enrique and Best and hello Long. No Doubt all the Ashley supporters here will be pleased with the fact that our squad is at the same threadbare levels as last year because it means Ashley will make a profit at NUFC that he will lose in one night at a Casino. Or of course he might buy another shop with it. The lying bastards now say that we will buy in January, so that's OK then, obviously.
