He was forced to hand in a transfer request let us not forget...

Pretty sure he also had Pardew tied up in his chair with some tape across his mouth while he pointed a gun at his head and phoned up Mike to demand some ransom money and a Chopper for his getaway or Pardew would end up eating some lead. He got the chopper anyway.

There may be an element of truth in that - I don't really know but he didn't regret it then and he wont be regretting it now. I've heard stories about him wanting to go because we wouldn't give him a new contract etc, etc.

It seemed a good deal for all parties involved apart from Liverpool.

Thing is we'd just given him a new contract and he was going on about wanting to emulate Shearer and all of the rest of it.

He saw the money and ran at the first opportunity.

He probably fancied playing for one the glamour boys as well, to be fair. Also a lot more chance of winning something with them than us.

Aye I think the entire thing was money orientated - either staying for more money or leaving for more.

Totally man.

It just boils my piss when people go on about how much they want "Andy" to come home as he loves us so much he'd come crawling over broken glass to get here.

Aye, I think he'll be fond of us but he wont really give a fuck at the end of the day. The club you support goes out the window when another is willing to pay you twice as much.

Andy Carroll has revealed how he was forced out of Newcastle by owner Mike Ashley and never wanted to leave the club.

The West Ham striker has long been regarded as moving to Liverpool for financial gain when he left St James’s Park in a £35million deal on transfer window day in January 2011.

That angered Toon fans and he was accused of betraying his home town club and has suffered bad receptions on his return to Tyneside.

And while he is now at the centre of West Ham legal action as they were refused by the FA to appeal his red card against Swansea last week, Carroll has looked back three years to the time he knew his time was up.

It was the moment he knew Ashley had his helicopter ready after the club were ready to sell after agreeing a deal with the Reds that he knew he was not wanted..

Carroll’s career did not go to plan and he was forced out by Brendan Rodgers following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish. Recalling the break up of his beloved club, the Gateshead born striker says he wanted to sign a new deal.

He said: “I was in talks about a new contract and talking to the gaffer about that.

“He told me that they are now not going to give me a contract. That was as soon as the offer of £30m came in.

“So I asked why I wasn’t getting a new contract and he said his hands were tied.

“He said it wasn’t up to him. Then a £35m bid got accepted. And then I was allowed to talk to Liverpool. The owner then made it clear to me that I was not wanted at the club.

“Saying that his own helicopter is waiting for me to go down to talk to them.

“So being shown I’m not wanted I said OK I will talk to them. Then suddenly the bid was rejected.

“And then Derek Llambas asked me to hand in a transfer request. So I was pushed into a corner and had no choice.”

Carroll said he felt upset to be leaving his beloved Tyneside why is why he is so upset when fans do not realise the position.

Talking of owner Mike Ashley, he told the Chronicle: “I wasn’t wanted by them and they made it clear they wanted the money.

“Then I flew down in his helicopter. I didn’t want to leave. I’m gutted that I wasn’t wanted at my home team after everything I’ve done and progress I’ve made.

“I didn’t want to leave at all. The players, staff and fans were fantastic.”

Those are quotes from an article Ryder did in 2011. He tweeted the link to it during a conversion with someone over his sudden change in tune after the press were banned. I clicked the link and thought it was a current article until I got to the bottom and saw the dates of the comments.

£35mil and £100kpw to have a bash at reaching Champions League football or stick with the contract he signed in the championship to play under Ashley?

I don't blame him anymore than I blame Cabaye for leaving us to double his money and live in Paris. I'd be off in a fucking heartbeat tbh and I've supported the club my whole life

If PSG were offering £250 a week he wouldn't have gone, and neither would Carroll to Liverpool on that money

If Harry Secombe was to return from the grave and go on a killing spree, the papers wouldn't lead with the sotrms battering the south coast.

Hypotheticals are fun.
