peasepud 59
I cant believe we're back to mentioning Smiths name, even in jest. Hes like some bad fart that just wont go away no matter how far you walk or how many doors you close behind you that meaty guff can still be experienced. Then you realise you've actually followed through. Thats the feeling I get with Smith.
dbsweeney 0
I want it to be he who can't be named. I don't think Harps is going to be #1, so that rules him out. Otherwise I guess it'll be Saylor, or perhaps Colo. Out of the two of them, I'd prefer Colo.
sammynb 3517
He can't be named can barely speak english and Colo's isn't much better. It's fucking ludicrous that we are selling Nolan. He who can't be named is out for possibly a month with the African cup, donkey will probably be there with him for Nigeria.
dbsweeney 0
Sammyb, I think we're talking about a different 'He who can't be named'. The initials of mine is JB. Is yours CT?
dbsweeney 0
And no, I don't mean Christmas Tree when I write CT.
sammynb 3517
And no, I don't mean Christmas Tree when I write CT. fuck if only that CT could be transferred! See I haven't even considered JB as he'll be out the door about 5 minutes after Nolan is gone. btw I was under the impression he who can't be named is because if he's named he'll be sold? Indeedy ... and I don't want JB (or CT for that matter) to be sold. I think this will be a wild and woolly transfer period. More so than we've seen for a couple of years. Unfortunately people haven't realised NUFC players for Ashley are like those stocks in Adidas he had. They were all about how much more he could get for them than the yearly dividends. StevieRoss 0
Can't believe Barton would get it after his tweets condemning the club hierarchy. Steven Taylor seems the logical choice (England U21 captain and all) but he's not necessarily going to be an automatic first eleven player. Same for Harper. Coloccini just doesn't strike me as a leader, especially as his English is not fluent. Incredibly, I think it might fall to Foluwashola...

I wouldn't be surprised if they take a cut price offer to move him on, just to shut his mouth and get his wages off the bill. Hard to see the Fenham Pele getting the captaincy as he's rarely fit. I bet Pardoo hasn't got a clue who will be in his squad on 1 August, I'd bet my house he wasn't consulted on Nolan's transfer and probably won't be on any other outgoings either. It seems to me he's just a coach but he's desperate to sound like a real manager in the press.

Clearly it looks bad to have a manager who has as little influence on the big picture at the club as it seems Pardew does. So he'll be be put in front of the media with a script to regurgitate the party line on all these contract issues and "appear" to have some semblance of control. He was obviously hand-picked by Ashley for his qualities of being a completely sycophantic yes-man, while coming across as quite plausible and capable to the media and the general public. Christmas Tree 4851
Moncur backs Fabricio Coloccini for captain FORMER Newcastle United captain Bob Moncur has backed Fabricio Coloccini to fill the void left by Kevin Nolan when it comes to the armband stakes. The last man to lift a trophy for the Magpies feels defensive warrior Colo is the perfect man for the job – but admits Alan Pardew does not have too many options when it comes to finding a new leader. Coloccini would appear to be the people’s choice for the job and, as revealed in Friday’s Chronicle, the Argentine is one of the leading candidates to takeover from Nolan. Moncur said today: “I think Coloccini is almost perfect for the role because of the way he plays – he leads by example from the back. “It is always difficult finding the right man for the job and there are not too many stand-out options. “Coloccini has been here three years now and has really started to make an impact in the last two. “When he first arrived he was roughed up a bit by Premier League strikers, but playing in the Championship appeared to give him the confidence he played with while over in Spain. “Last season we really stood up and took notice of him.” Moncur – who captained United for more than a decade and during the halcyon Fairs Cup era – reckons the job of captain should be for a defender. Moncur said: “For me, and being a defender, the job is best served for a defender. “You can control things better and read the game. “One candidate in terms of experience and know-how at the football club would be Steve Harper. “No disrespect to Steve, but I am not 100% sure it works well with a goalkeeper as captain. “Looking round the place, you then have Steven Taylor or Mike Williamson. “I am not sure who will play out of Steven and Mike, but the Williamson-Colo partnership impressed me. “Steven knows the club inside out and loves it dearly, but does he have the experience? “After that I would be stretching, I think Joey Barton would deserve to be in with a shout but his future is unclear in the eyes of the fans. “Cheick Tiote is also in there but he has enough on his plate with his disciplinary issues and needs to perfect that first.” Moncur was handed the armband by Joe Harvey and believes it did not alter the way he approached the game – unlike it did with players such as David Beckham, who somehow found even more ability in his locker when leading England. He added: “I know it can change some players. “I was always made skipper of teams I played for, for some reason. “Even in schoolboy teams it was always me who made the speeches and it just seemed to be a natural thing. “You have certain players who organise well and are perhaps born to be a captain.” An outside tip for the captain’s armband may be Yohan Cabaye, who arrives from Lille with plenty of experience. Moncur said: “I think language could be a factor, but if it is good and he settles in soon then who knows? “You usually have to earn the captaincy at any club. “However, when I moved to Sunderland I was handed the captaincy at the expense of Bobby Kerr, which was a very tough situation to deal with.” Read More http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-u.../#ixzz1QZb5vuOT
