Tom 14011
We gambled on him - Stoke didn't think it was worth the risk with a £9m fee attached. So wait & see but I think Chelsea can afford it.

Howay 12496
So we've got all month to wait before we say ''we tried our best''. Depressing tbh. We can't replace Ba, under Cisse's current form we're in real trouble. If the whole Remy thing comes off I hope he hits the ground running and Cisse finds his shooting boots again but it's a big ask filling in for Ba. JawD 99
Cisse will hopefully be stronger as the main man through the middle. Replacing Ba with a forward who can play as an outside front 3. Thing is we should be after that player irrespective of Ba leaving. More concerned about the back 4 ATM
Christmas Tree 4725
Shame to see him go but quite like to see Cisse back in the middle. Not sure how we would have kept them both happy once HBA and Cabaye returned anyway. All the best to him if he does go. Has always been a class act on the pitch and tried to give his all. PaddockLad 17281
If we sell Ba and go down after failing to hit a barn door with a banjo goal wise between now and May will the clubs unwillingness to try to match his wage offers from other clubs look like a false economy?....give him a rise and ask him to stay till the end of the season us how id play it....getting rid of the clubs main goal scorer in January without much of a fight seems ludicrous to me. Asprilla 96
We can't afford to let players hold us to ransom. If he wants to go then let him. We got where we were on team spirit more than anything the last couple of years.

We got where we were on team spirit more than anything the last couple of years. Is he holding us to ransom though, or is he just looking to get market rate for the services that he provides? The big problem with Ashley is that he wants to run the football club on his terms, but the top players won't accept anyone's terms other than their own, and he has to learn that there are times when you need to lose the battle and just pay the bloke what he's worth. This is probably one of those times.

David Kelly 1245
The thing is there's not many clubs that would be willing or able to pay the wages he wants given his knee issue. Chelski and Citeh are probably the only two in this country and if Chelski had a permanent manager I think they would be looking at a bigger option. It could very well be a really bad move on his part because I suspect he'll be pushed out in favour of someone like Falcao or Cavani in the summer. Of course most likely we'll be the big loosers in all of this. But you never know we might be able to replace him with someone who can allow us to fit together a proper team. Most likely we won't replace him any time soon though.
LoveTheBobby 1
North west softcock John Richardson said today on Sunday Supplement he had it as "fact" Ba's agents had already spoken with QPR recently . Insurance is an issue in any possible move I believe . Either way I'm not hopeful of him sticking around. Obviously it's in his agents' interests to punt him on etc. but if he goes, in the scheme of things, it has to be one of the most short-sighted bollocks to have been dropped . Couple of million to Ba and 5 or so to the casino developing chancer . Where y gonna get 15 goals a season for that ffs ? Proper *facepalm* if he's away . Monroe Transfer 0
He'd want out anyway if a trophy-winning club like Chelsea comes calling. It's well known he has too many 'agents', people wanting a piece of his pie as tt were.

He's a great player and in form but you can bet as soon as we gave him a 4 year contract on £90k a week his knee would go!
Gemmill 44900
But then you have to accept that this club can only retain average players, if it wants to pay average wages. To be honest, I think we're both right. I think you're right that that's what should be done and I'm right that you have to accept your place in the game if that's gonna be the club's outlook. It's part of the reason I can't be fucked with football anymore - I don't buy papers but we have a paper stand in the shop at work and I always glance at all the back pages and a lot of the time, the big back page story is centred around some premiership footballers wage slip, and the fact that he doesn't think he's getting paid enough. I know it's almost boring to talk about this stuff, but it's just so fucking distasteful to have that on the back page and you flip the thing over to read about more cuts in the NHS, or how more people are slipping into poverty. I'd love more people to walk away from football and for the bubble to burst for these utter cunts/"Premiership Stars".

I know...these players buy the same newspapers too, I don't know what must go on in their heads to keep wanting more. I can sort of see the logic when you know that you are generating money for somebody so you should take your share but IMO it always ends up taking focus away from the game itself and the thing they loved in the first place. The optimist in me sees people learning to give back and realising that it can actually make you happier than constantly taking. Bill Gates and recently George Lucas gave away fortunes to good causes. How much does a person really need after all? It may be naive but I just hope there are still some footballers out there who want to turn up to a job where everyone is on the same side. It seemed like we'd managed it last season. Ba is an excellent striker but if you think about it, he agreed to be paid a certain amount for a period of time and now he's gone back on that agreement. What can the club do logically? They don't have the option to reduce players' contracts if they play badly so I can see it going against the grain to have to increase them if they play well. I know that's how things have got but I think Ashley is right to not get into that game. It reminds me of the Owens and Dyers and the total lack of camaraderie when anyone scored. In short, cunts. Player agents, they're the ones behind the scenes making the phone calls and arranging the meetings all to get their cut. Demba Ba's is no doubt rubbing his hands together deciding where else on this planet he'd like to pick up a holiday home.

JawD 99
Sounds more and more like our stance is correct as I assume his agents are taking the piss with their requests. I mean if he cant reach a deal with a club like chelsea. As Caulkin in saying in Twitter, the deal isnt as good as it seems. £7.5M + Agent Fees + £80Kpw + 4 year deal + dodgy medical.
