PaddockLad 17281
Fuck me! There are other sources of income than transfers, you know!! Sky money goes to all clubs though. The only way we stay ahead of most of the rest in that regard (ie appearance fees and performance money) is to be canny in the transfer market. Christmas Tree 4725
Agreed. But does CT think that the players get paid in buttons and fluff?....that 35mill surplus goes towards paying the wages too. No he doesn't but do you forget we are forecast to make an operating profit this year? Enjoy the players and let Mike worry about the finances. Dont you want to see even better players at NUFC?....we have a big chance to do it the right way, and thats by having no sentiment about any of the current playing staff and selling them when an offer comes in thats more than their true value. I'd let Tiote go this summer as well for the same reason.
PUGATRON1000 0
Well if he goes this season its highly unlikely its going to be for 7mill now. Its not about that...its maybe adding that fee perhaps to the 10mill or so we paid for Cisse to get our next striker from perhaps the 15-20mill bracket. Doubling up if you like. Dont think anyone could see us spending 10 mill on a striker before January...in fact there was a guessing game on here how much we would spend on one player. Many thought we wouldnt get near 10mill. Thing is that was only possible after we sold Carroll for 35 mill. Ah right, I see, so you suspect that some unknown mega-rich club has deliberately not activated his £7m release clause so that they can swoop in after it expires and pay double the money to secure his services?? sneaky bastards eh?? Demba Ba would at least be in that £15-20m bracket when his clause expires, why dont we sell him and buy him back to appease your lunacy?? or we could to wolves and get Fletcher if you prefer?? PaddockLad 17281
Err.... You're right, he's unlikely to go anywhere this summer, the deal wouldve been done weeks ago if he was. I did say if someone gets desperate in the last few days of the window for any one of a variety of reasons he could still leave. That has to be a possibilty for all our players, not just Ba. Even I can trust Dekka and Mike not to pay stupid money for the likes of Fletcher. Youve not really shown why its wiser to keep Ba...I accept completely that CT likes to watch him play. But apart from that.....what is there?

I'd let Tiote go this summer as well for the same reason. first thing of any sense i've seen you post tbh, that singular word value! That seems to be the most important thing to this regime, as i believe it should be! That's why we've walked away from deals like Luuk De Jong, as the value for money is not perhaps there, but i would like to think that if by some bizarre quirk of the galaxy Neymar decided he wanted to come to the toon, and was available for only £20m we'd go get him, as the value would most certainly be there. I think they knew Cisse was a steal for £10m, and thats why they sanctioned it. It's too simplistic to say that we only bought him because of the AC money, as otherwise they'd have brought someone in at the earliest possible opportunity, and they didnt, they took their time and sized it all up. Can you imagine if Fat Freddy had had £35m in the bank? It would have been spent quicker than a teenage male virgin in a porno, with only a Luque, and an owen to show for it!! Make each pound work as well for you as it can!!

PUGATRON1000 0
Youve not really shown why its wiser to keep Ba...I accept completely that CT likes to watch him play. But apart from that.....what is there? Well there is the fact that Man Utd's defenders won't be looking forward to playing him again, given that he absolutely singlehandedly mauled their centrehalves last season. Then of course there are many well taken goals, and superb hold up play, that played a massi-huge-ve part in our superb season, and in sticking two fingers up at the southern biased rags. I'm sure you have seen his goals last season so there's no point in chucking up youtube links. I'm just amazed that you have either completely overlooked his huge contribution, or that you are pretending to? either way makes you an utter shambles of a man in my eyes!! your not showing yourself up to be that clever yourself old son if you cant equate this "Make every pound work as well as it can for you" with letting Ba go --> haha, again you are either a fool, or you play a very convincing one!! Let's say you inherit your parent's house, a 3 bed semi in a nice area. You live there for a year, then you realise you'd rather have the house next door, which is still a 3 bed semi, except they've put an extension on, whacked another en-suite in, and have done the garden up a treat. You sell your house for substantially less than it's worth, but hey you didnt pay anything for it did you? TIDY BIT OF PROFIT EH? Imagine your horror when you realise that you have nowhere near enough money to buy the house you want and instead you have to settle for a 2 bed terrace with no garden and a fuckin eyesore of a bathroom. SHIT, GUESS I FUCKED UP THERE (I hear you say!) Just because we could make an "apparent" tidy profit on Ba, doesn't mean we could use that money (a piss poor £7m, which wouldnt even buy Steven Fletcher's standing foot,) to better the team. Every bonkers transfer like AC's makes other teams think their player is worth £5m more, or more!! No team can get EVERY buy right, not even with Graham Carr on board. So to suggest selling one of the PL's leading performers, and one of our "proven" players for a bag of toffee and a copy of razzle is madness beyond my comprehension. So would now be a good time for you to outline your plans for replacement players, or perhaps even to expand on why you think we should get shot of Ba?? Or are you off to search for 12 monkeys? Baggio 0
I wouldn't be surprised if we were waiting to see if he stayed or not before upping bids for the likes of Debuchy, with the thinking that if he did go we would have to replace him with not a lot of money, since he was supposed to he due half of any transfer fee. Brock Manson 0
As if Mike Ashley would put a release clause in a player's contract that allows him to leave for a paltry fee, half of which going to the player! I still doubt the validity of there being a release clause anyway. Wolfy will back me up on that. It was all agent and journalistic balderdash. If 16-goal Demba Ba was available for £7m he wouldn't still be a Newcastle player, simple as. We need to keep the guy, he's a very good striker. His hold up play at times is superb and I've always loved to see him turn with the ball at his feet and run at defenders. He was absolutely devastating against ManUre when he was on the ball and there's not many strikers who can do that against them.
