The FIFA Crisis

The head of the Argentinian FA, Julio Grondona, viciously denounced the allegations of corruption emanating from England, accusing the English of spouting "lies" ... and revealing that he would never have supported an English World Cup bid unless the Falkland Islands were handed back to Argentina.

This is what we're up against. We've either won wars against, or colonised most of the other fifa member states at at one time or another. No wonder they don't like us.

The Argie dictator we fought against during the Falklands War used to have women raped in prison (many civilians 'disappeared' and were tortured/killed for dissent and unorthodoxy) and sold the babies. Think this Argentine FA bloke should pipe the fuck down.

What they said

"With the English [2018] bid I said: 'Let us be brief. If you give back the Falkland Islands, which belong to us, you will get my vote.' They then became sad and left ... We always have attacks from England which are mostly lies. This upsets and disturbs the Fifa family"

Julio Grondona, Fifa senior vice-president, Argentina

"The problem of some comments in the paper came from some people who may have lost in the World Cup elections. They associated us with crimes we have not committed, they insult, they attack our freedom. It's enough"

Angel María Villar Llona, Fifa executive committee member, Spain

"What a beautiful English word: allegations. Somebody stands up, says a few things in the press, then these things take ... a seed in our minds, without most of the time, a single shred of truth"

Costakis Koutsokoumnis, FA president, Cyprus

"I am the captain weathering the storm ... Not only is the pyramid shaking but our ship has drawn some water. We must do something because I do not want ever again that we face this undignified situation"

Sepp Blatter, Fifa president

"I'm ill at ease that this comes from a country like England with its football standing ... We must massively express our support to President Blatter. Please applaud"

Moucharafou Anjorin, FA president, Benin

Argentina and Spain are the major countries against us and Germany are on our side.

And so to Germany, where the trend was bucked. Bild, the daily, placed the story as its third item on the front page and it also led the sports section, where the question was asked: "Was he bought?" in relation to Jack Warner's U‑turn. Blatter is not popular in Germany; he was jeered at the opening game of the 2006 World Cup. It is safe to say that he is less popular in England.

Precisely what is it that FIFA are required to do apart from organise the World Cup? If it's to promote the game internationally then they're failing spectacularly.

With Blatter being a former journo you just know you can't trust anything the guy says. Professional truth twister.

By the by, giving all 208 members a vote is perhaps the stupidest idea this guy has come up with. Gives the impression outwardly of being more open and democratic when the exact opposite is true.

Would probably make it even cheaper to buy the bid tbh, i.e. I can't see American Samoa needing millions of dollars to buy their vote. Nowt against any American Samoans reading this obviously, that's just an example

Also hate the way Fifa and Blatter are portrayed as taking the game around the World when in places like South Africa you've got stadiums that are now basically white elephants and the locals couldn't afford to go anyway. Also, you've got all these millions that've been poured into 'developing' the game in places like Africa but you just know that some bloke from the Liberian FA (or whatever) will have a Carribean Villa whilst the grass roots facilities in the country will remain nonexistent. It's also been completely swept under the carpet as to why the Qatari candidate stepped down.

Not that I expect anything to change in the near future.

Yep. That's exactly it. Despite its appearance as a more democratic system it in fact only opens the whole thing up to even more corruption.

Not sure how East Timor or Curacao's vote being worth the same as Germany or Brazil's vote is fair or democratic either.

Headlines say Blatter isn't seeking "revenge" against the FA for daring to criticise him.

Body text repeatedly quotes him as being "surprised" at the FA's actions and includes quotes like "England in my opinion needs to build bridges both within Uefa and Fifa".

Ah-hah.

Yeah well there's that too. Even the likes of Australia or the US (due to the relative popularity of Football in those countries) don't really deserve equal voting rights compared to the likes of Brazil even without mentioning the minor nations.

I really hope we pull out of FIFA altogether now. Fuck the world cup, fuck all the bent, corrupt lickspittles from Bongo Bongo Land, they can have their million dollar prossies and white elephants. Only the murder of those arrogant cutwits will allow football to regain any integrity at all on the international stage. How the fucking hell can it be a fucking election with one son of a spyhillitic smack whore standing? Is this North Korea or something? That arrogant twat speaks about not wanting revenge, but that is horse shit. Why name us in the speech for daring to say that things need to be settled before the election? And 'building bridges'?? Yeah right you corrupt twat, you just want us to rim you harder than ever and give you brown envelopes. Only BAe do that shit you cunt.

I really hope Bladder and all his pets, lackeys and fellow parasites die.

Has Curacao taken the Netherlands Antilles place? I wondered what would happen after they voted to become a part of the real Netherlands

I hope the whole of europe pulls out of FIFA, they should, and one day they will, and the TV companies will put their money into a new tournament with the european countries heading it, and FIFA will be screwed.

It's coming, and it's been coming for a while. Thats what you get when you pander to micky mouse banana republic nobody countries.

So Lisle Austin (guy who sacked Chuck Blazer only for him to be reinstated) has been banned:

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2931/go-glo...nt-lisle-austin

Concacaf announced that acting president Lisle Austin had been suspended, but did did not specify what he had done to warrant the ban.

The news comes after a tumultuous week in which Austin fired Concacaf general secretary and Fifa Executive Committee member Chuck Blazer. The firing was then immediately ruled illegal and Blazer was reinstated.

Blazer has come under scrutiny in the past week for reporting Concacaf president Jack Warner to Fifa on corruption charges. Warner is currently suspended pending further investigation.

A statement on Concacaf's website stated: "Lisle Austin has been provisionally banned from all football activities within Concacaf and at the national level by a majority of the Concacaf Executive Committee members for apparent infringement of the Concacaf statutes. This suspension took effect on Thursday, June 2, 2011. Notice of this suspension is being sent to Fifa to be extended worldwide."

"As the senior most vice-president of Concacaf, Alfredo Hawit, assumes the role of acting president under the Concacaf statutes."

Could make a movie about these organisations.

It's like so many of the Communist Parties during the cold war, when people were being deposed for being 'rightist', 'revisionist' or whatever, only to be reinstated 6 months later when the Stalin/Mao figure at the top needed to rein in those who moved to oust them. All we need to complete the picture is the Crsassus/Deng Xiaoping figure amongst all this-the one who has all the power behind the scenes despite not holding high office or status.

Henry Kissinger interested in helping Fifa reform group

Kissinger (left) and Sepp Blatter (right) Kissinger (left) helped reform the International Olympic Committee

Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has told BBC Radio 5 live he is interested in joining Fifa president Sepp Blatter's committee of 'wise men'.

Blatter has invited him to join his new committee to improve accountability.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13659901.stm

This reads almost like satire; Kissinger and Fifa are perfect for each other.

In reality though, they did do as I said

  • 2 weeks later...

Warner has finally fallen on his sword.

Nice statement from FIFA though, "As a consequence of Mr Warner's resignation, all ethics committee procedures against him have been closed and the presumption of innocence is maintained".
