sammynb 3517
There is there faint taste of sour grapes about the whole thing, mind. Fuck sour grapes, if the Australian FA had of known all it would take is a $1m pay off to each of the voting delegates it would have worked out cheaper than spending $40m trying to promote the bid. As the head of FIFA Blatter needs to be accountable for the corrupt ways of the organisation.
The Fish 10972
Sorry fucking tired, I meant the counter accusations from Warner et al. I don't doubt that Blatter is a conniving cunt, but I'm not sure he'd be so stupid as to be brazen about his naughtiness. So while I think Warner and Bin Hammam are fucked, I reckon the mud slung at Blatter won't stick at all. I can't believe he'd be so arrogant as to give or take a bribe. Lazarus 0
its a shame that none of the other associations or major clubs are publically showing their concern at how fifa is run. it could be an opportunuity to force through that european superleague

Total joke Fifa basically investigating themselves like. Ooh, I wonder what they'll find. The way I've read this whole carry on they're all guilty as sin but Blatter has more on other people than they have on him. No doubt that paragon of morality that is Swiss law will sort this all out though.

No doubt that paragon of morality that is Swiss law will sort this all out though. Will money dictate they have to get serious? A few of the top sponsors have had a pop... "Emirates, like all football fans around the world, are disappointed with the issues that are currently surrounding the administration of this sport. We hope that these issues will be resolved as soon as possible and the outcome will be in the interest of the game and sport in general.'' "Adidas enjoys a long-term, close and successful partnership with FIFA that we are looking forward to continuing, having said that, the negative tenor of the public debate around FIFA at the moment is neither good for football nor for FIFA and its partners.'' Coca Cola - “The current allegations being raised are distressing and bad for the sport. We have every expectation that FIFA will resolve this situation in an expedient and thorough manner.'' The top 6 sponsors account for £1Bn (a quarter) of FIFA income.
Guest alex
The sponsors are the only real power brokers outside the big wigs within the organisation. However, I suspect they'll want to be associated with future World Cups more than anything else and all this will blow over. It's probably a bigger deal here than most other countries too imo. What with the bitterness about the failed World Cup bid etc.

Not defending Uefa but I don't think they are as bad. They're acting in self interest by keeping quiet about all this though I think as they probably don't want to be dragged into the corruption issues but are quite satisfied to see Fifa in a bit of bother. Uefa have the advatage of having the CL every year whereas Fifa essentially only have the World Cup every 4 so they don't 'need to be as corrupt' (for want of a better phrase) because that in itself makes them an absolute fortune on a yearly basis. Uefa are also more constrained by European Law and also seem to be more open to scrutiny.
McFaul 35
All this does is epitomise the world in my view. The world is corrupt. The only countries anyone can trust are ourselves, the Scandi's and the Dutch. The rest of the world doesn't play by our rules, never will. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. If we walked out of FIFA today, we'd still be in UEFA, and everyone else would follow. It's wor game anyway, should be us who govern it, then the whole world could be certain there'd never be any dirty tricks.

The problem has nothing to do with nationality but the lack of governance and accountability within FIFA. It was proven years ago that Warner was a crook yet he has still managed to maintain a huge position of power despite not having a massively important role (in theory). One of the most disgraceful comments I've ever seen. This is one of the heads of one of THE most important organisations on earth, and he wonders why we fuckin complain?!?!?!!??! Fifa is bent as a nine bob note. ah right i see now , just wasnt sure how he got his snout in their trough too. there were comments today from the incumbent vice-president (irish guy ? cant rmbr name off hand) saying 'Eng need to make friends not enemies that's all i'm saying' . . eh !? it's the whole Dr Evil-esque threatening tone of them alongside their clearly corrupt "pyramid" that irks me too. And yeah Fish , like you say , from one farce to another with their proposed revision i rekon. tell y what else is wrong - on so many levels - all the millions potential hosts have historically spent and wasted courting these shameful bastards . never had so much as a look-in clearly and im sure even a fraction of which could have helped improve the lives of some less fortunate instead . . that'll be the same less fortunate folk that these lot purport to act on behalf of . my hairy arse .
