Dr Gloom 22143
The Scottish league is one of the worst in Europe. Shame for them like as it was belter in the 80s.
Guest alex
http://www.talkceltic.net/forum/showthread.php?t=104613 Incredible thread. Just incredible. Anthony Stokes would walk in to our team. 3 goals in 3 years at Sunderland. Izaguirre better than Enrique, Scott Brown better than Barton and Nolan. You just don't find delusion like that every day. I'm asking yous on here seriously who from the SPL would make our strongest eleven better. McGregor, Rangers keeper, possibly. The Tims up here aren't hugely impressed with FF btw. Irrespective of whether some of the fans rate him or not you've still got the third choice keeper from a newly promoted side being a regular starter for one of the top two teams in the country. Bit of a joke that like.
Holden McGroin 6783
I stopped reading when they said Coloccini couldnt get in their team yet Taylor could. Colo would walk that league if he had a leg amputated. I like how he completely neglected our best player (Tiote)
McFaul 35
A shit failed Premiership striker, Kenny Miller, ended up top scorer in the league despite only playing 18 games. Say nee more. I wouldn't even comment if they weren't so arrogant. Newcastle and even Sunderland have far more quality than both, any level headed person could see that. Holden McGroin 6783
They have a point about our shit strikers but I bet Shola and Best would score bucket loads in that league. Gary Hooper and Samaras for FFS. I know who I'd rather have, despite that area being our weakest. Edited May 26, 2011 by Holden McGroin

ewerk 31195
Look at how the world's top clubs have been scrambling to sign the former Rangers players. No one half decent will take them, even on a free.
topcat 0
Scottish football has really gone to seed Looking back some of the best players in the world came from Scotland but by the early 80's sommat went wrong up there and the kids just stopped coming through in any numbers hit the nail on the head there - back in the 80s there were about 50 secondary schools in Glasgow and each school had a team (or teams) at each age group in the glasgow schools leagues - games were populated on the sidelines by scouts who cherry picked the best (most of our team were signed on s-forms) - then the teachers went on strike 84/85 and after the strikes most kind of tacitly walked away from extra-curricular sports in the schools altogether - same picture regrettably in other cities fast forward to today and there are now just 29 secondary schools - you'll be lucky to find a dozen schools in each age group so the numbers are not coming through as they used to be - even had a situation a few years ago where I had 30+ kids do a few training sessions ahead of the Saturday trial for the under 16s - only 3 showed up for the trial match with the 2 main reasons for a no-show being: (1) - I'm not getting up at 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning (2) - I dont need a trial - I should be in the starting 11 also had another crew about 6 years ago who had drawn 4 and lost 7 before the xmas holiday and refused to do any training after school on the wednesday afternoon - at the first meeting in January they informed me they had met and decided they "didn't like losing" so would not be playing any more games bottom line is the clubs up here have failed to invest and most of the kids couldn't give a monkeys as they have other things to do
NYD 0
I can understand those Celtic fans being pissed off at Pardew for slagging off the SPL, but some of the things them Celtic fans are saying borders on insanity. The Scottish really do have a problem with the English that will never go away.

Kevin Carr's Gloves 3964
Rangers & Celtic fans are incredibly deluded and still clinging to the Glory of the past. I personally find the idea of supporting a team based on religion incredibly distasteful and I think very lowly of anybody in England who supports either team for that reason. The football is dross though and Celtic whose current team would not storm the Championship are going to walk the title for many years to come. I laughed at a post from the aforementioned forum asking why our top teams are always sniffing around their players??

The top 7 or 8 clubs with money in England or the clubs who consider themselves the biggest over the last 20 years not just now, in order are probably: Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham and Man City. Count up over the last say 15 years how many of these clubs have signed players who have been regulars from the SPL. Man Utd - no one. Arsenal - no one. Chelsea - no one. Liverpool - no regular, some kid called Wilson who I'm not even sure has made his debut. Newcastle - Boumsong (say nee more), Stephen Glass (no more than a bit part player), Tottenham - Alan Hutton, deemed so shit he was farmed out on loan. Man City - nen. Toonpack 9927
Other than the now crocked Fletcher, has there been a "good" Scots player emerged in the last 25 years (maybe even 30 years)
PaddockLad 17643
Fletcher isnt fit to lace Gary McAllister's boots. If Fletcher is good then so is John Collins. So is Brian McClair.

McFaul 35
Was in the Newcastle end for Beardsley's testimonial. They were totally silent apart from when the half times came on and they announced Rangers were winning. Cue a giant cheer and the rest of the second half shouting about Bobby Sands etc. Couldn't fill their own stadium for one of their best ever players and the atmosphere from them pathetic. They've never had a structure in place and spent money on crap. There is also a definite fascist element within the support. And as someone else has mentioned, Newcastle also have a body of fans who do not accept defeat with grace and dignity. Why would anyone tell any of these lies? Is insecurity about being inferior to NUFC? A way of making them feel better about themselves. The Beardsley testimonial was one of the rare occasions demand was so high there were touts knocking about. As for cheering for Rangers, no-one cares, why would we cheer for Rangers, they're as insignificant as Celtic, and I doubt 10% of toon fans even know who Bobby Sands is. Fascist element, aye that NUFC Swastika flag in Level 7 is looking canny. To be honest, I don't think I've even heard a racist comment for 20 years at SJP. Why would anyone make those lies up? I don't get it, but although there's one or two of them are alright, they're basically a complete bunch of wanks, and Rangers are even worse. CleeToonFan 1
Classic Nile Ranger. What a stupid cunt. Am I missing something? It was at Stevies post of people we've had recently who were SPL players, even if we didn't sign him from there.
