Just got back from the hospital Parky Jnr has some kind of infection half way up her left arm, it's the size of 5p piece and very red and swelling. It just appered over the last couple of days. They are saying anti-biotics is not enough. And they made a little cut around it and have been working on it (not sure exactly what they are upto).

Any ideas what this is any of your children had a serious skin infection?

Bit bemused by it all.

Catmag any ideas?

cheers

P.

Why didn't you ask them?

We did but they say its just an infection where a spot or something has got bugs in it...All very vague. Probs have no idea.

Just a bit worried when he said antibiotics alone was not enough.

When they did the cut did they do it in theatre or was it just a local anaesthetic job? It may be an abscess that needed draining rather than just antibiotics.

Mrs P just got back with her.

A second doc said they would go for anitbiotics first after tinkering with it for a bit. No cuts for now. But the swelling was quite bad.

They've put her arm in a sling so she doesn't move it much. Reason being they don't want it to spread or her scratching it in the night.

*They were talking theatre initially which caused my alarm.

edit

They drained it a tiny bit (and took a sample) according to the Mrs. But it has quite a hard lump now so they left it.

might be a bug bite - wor lass had a bite a couple of years back that turned into the worst rash I've ever seen - took a couple of weeks and some industrial strength antibiotics to fix it

and years a go a lass at work had a spider bite that blew her arm up like a Michelin man - that was 5 days in hospital

hope the you'un is better Parky
