As per Ants reply. Any1 who knows owt about football has known about Ben Arfa for the last 4 years. The fact CT has obviously never heard of him prior to him signing ( A masterful Graham carr find) for us simply sums everything up. Clueless!

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has pledged to avoid mistakes made by the club in the past and invest wisely this summer.

The Magpies have often enjoyed a mixed time in the market, coupling the marquee signings of Alan Shearer and - at the time - Michael Owen, with the flops such as Albert Luque, Marcelino and Jean-Alain Boumsong.

It is unclear as of yet whether Pardew will be given much of the £35million pocketed for star striker Andy Carroll from Liverpool in January by owner Mike Ashley to spend on players.

However, Pardew is eager to make sure there are no more pricey failures at St James' Park this time around by bringing in quality.

"Everybody is looking to see what we are going to do and we are trying to make sure that we cover all the bases before we make our move," he said.

"We don't want to make a mistake - there have been mistakes made here in selection and on finance, so it's very important to get those (decisions) right."

Newcastle have spent recent months identifying potential targets with much of their scouting work being undertaken in mainland Europe.

Targets

Domestic targets have been earmarked too, although sources on Tyneside have played down speculation that West Ham striker Carlton Cole is in their sights.

But there is little doubt that Pardew's main focus will be on finding a replacement for Carroll as he attempts to bolster his forward line.

In addition, the Magpies are in the market for players who will both provide the supply lines to the strikers and in the process, excite supporters.

The return from long-term injury of Frenchman Hatem Ben Arfa will represent a boost in that respect with the former Marseille winger having managed only four appearances before suffering a double leg fracture at Manchester City in October.

Pardew has been delighted with the way the side he inherited from Hughton in December has coped with life back in the big time, but he is looking for a significant improvement next season.

"We haven't scored a lot of goals away from home, for example - in fact, I think we have got the worst (total) in the division, so we need to make sure that improves.

"Like any manager, I am starting to review now and we have got to make sure next year we are stronger in all departments."

Perhaps he'll recommend a centre-forward this summer.

He already has, although chances are it has gone in one ear and out the other:

Hey, I'm all for finding talent such as yourself, and would like to look in your homeland. Who can you recommend from your native country?

Mark Lowes

I have two names. The first is Gervinho, who plays for Lille as a forward or winger. He is really good, 23 years old and a great player. The other is Seydou Doumbia of CSKA Moscow. He's a striker and he's a great prospect.

I thought it was McClaren who spoke to Tiote and recommended him playing in England? Or was that Sven?

That McClaren thing rings a bell. Said that he'd suit English football or it would be good for him IIRC. Along those lines anyway.

It was McLaren who told him to go to England but originally Tiote was a player that KK was interested in that Hughton followed up on a season later, according to an interview with CH.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Keegan was the one that first looked into signing Tiote.

The problem with you Fish (and to be honest, the reason why I usually ignore you), is that you rarely have anything football related to say and spend most of your time hanging out of Alex's arse and bitching.

You accuse me of being spoon fed, however had you or your puppet master done a quick search, you would have seen that I have been talking about, reading and posting articles about Graham Carr since March 2010.

Over a year ago by any stretch of the imagination.

Heres one of them. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...&pid=726587

In case you cant be arsed to click, I say in March 2010 "I'll be happy with some clever signings from Carr in the summer"......What do you know....Tiote, yup......Ben Arfa, Yup.

Its quite clear to any, barring the clique, which one of us is a know nowt gob shite.:angry::icon_lol::):(:D :D :D

Couple of things;

you don't ignore me, you froth at the slit if anybody replies to your banalities, especially someone who disagrees with you.

The point (yet again) is not that you've posted things about Carr, it's that you post other people's articles as if they're your insight, as if you have an original thought.

You are right, in one respect, I don't post a lot in the football side of things because

a) I agree with a lot of what's posted and I find streams of "I agree" to be tedious

:D I don't know as much about the financial side of football as, say, Matt or Chez

c) I've not got the encyclopaedic memory of games and players from decades ago that, say, Leazes or Craig does

d) I don't go to enough games to really put my two-penneth with regards to matches that aren't on tv AND I'm fully aware how the tv never shows the whole story anyway. So lads who go to many games won't have me telling them that they're wrong because I watched the game from my sofa and thought Mike Williamson was awesome.

I have no problem contributing to "Who should we sign" and "what is do we think about this football story" or "that game". I'm in a position to do that. To be honest I tend to stay quiet unless I see someone making a tit of themselves. It just so happens that you do, and you do it often.

You live close enough to attend every home game, you earn sufficient that you could afford to go, you work in a career that should afford you plenty of time to hear a myriad of opinions from which you could grow your own... and yet to trumpet the party line, you post articles by journalists as if they're both fact and t(more galling) an opinion you've always held. Fucks sake, in the article you mention in the link above you're saying it's nice to see a good bloke like Hughton in charge, yet the moment he was sacked you leapt straight in to say how clever the hierarchy was to get rid of him in time.

You're full of shit CT, like every other cabbie ever. You're a cliché and it's infuriating that I allow it to bother me.

#

good, good. The best thing of all about CT, is - he is so supportive of Ashley, and believes in him so much, yet he lives in the city and can't be bothered to support him with hard cash

Some support. :D
