Park Life 71
All of this leg work on the continent when Dean Sturridge will be on his bike for a bigger, more expensive name, who'll be half as good. He'd do me for a start.
Papa Lazaru 0
Whats the source for those quotes CT? I've definitely read that interview a while ago, which was a good bit longer than those quotes, and it was either the sunday sun or the chronicle that talked to him about his past as a player, his lvoe of the toon and the like, and he does come acorss as a scout who knows what he's doing and backed by the club would get us soem top notch players. Christmas Tree 4858
I think we will end up with a foreign striker who will turn out to be sensational (Graham Carr). A bit like when Liverpool replaced Rush with Aldridge, we will laugh our little fat chops off next season as Carroll fails and warms the bench while striker Tiote 2 takes the premiership by storm. Why is Graham Carr getting lots of props atm? But seriously...... “When I was at Tottenham I worked under David Pleat and he was full of good football knowledge and little sayings. I remember him saying to me ‘Never waste a flight,’ and that has stuck with me.” “So I go to a country and I’ll watch two or three games if I can. Last weekend I was in Lille, this weekend I’m going over to Germany to watch two games. You have to put that leg work in and get out to games – being passed a DVD of someone just isn’t the same.” “And 90% of the players that agents pitch to you just aren’t up to it.” “So my passport is pretty well thumbed, but I love my job. My dad played for Newcastle United and I’ve always wanted to be here – now I am I’m desperate to help bring some success back to the club because it deserves it.” “We are looking at a lot of players. We have teams of players that we’re looking at lined up in 4-4-2 formations because we want to have someone in every position,” “I think we need half a dozen players in summer, to be honest.” “That is a personal opinion, mind, but that is what I’m working towards – having options to put before the manager when the season is over.” “And we won’t just watch a player once. With someone like Cheick, it was the result of four years watching him.” “I’d first seen him playing for Roda against Arsenal in 2006 – they were hammered 4-0 I think, but you could tell he was going to be a good player. He never stopped running.” “So you keep an eye on him and track his progress, which is where we are with plenty of other players.” “People will all look at Arsene Wenger and say he’s got the French market covered, but we’ve got a good handle on it, believe me. The same is true of other countries too.” “You know you’re not on your own – you know there is competition out there from other English clubs and you have to be realistic – you can’t keep everything you’re doing off the radar. “A player that I was watching last weekend we’ve been watching for months, yet suddenly there were six scouts there from English clubs, all probably watching the same player.” “The key is to react quickly – that is what will get us our targets. That and the fact that Newcastle United is a big, big draw overseas.” The guys working his nuts off so we'll see what happens in the summer. Not to say the powers that be will automatically take his recommendations, however if he did introduce Tiote to the board (I know KK gets a few mentions for that on here), then Im sure Ashley will fully back the man. Are we the first club to have a 'trophy scout' then CT? You should pen a few chants for him, should be easy for you with your marketing background. He's here, He's there, he's searching everywhere....Graham Carr, Graham Carr........ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whose that sitting in the back row. Whose that scribbling things doon. Well his name is Graham Carr He's the greatest scout by far He's the man that brought Tiote to the Toon! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now the end is near And so I face the final curtain My friend I'll say it clear I'll state my case of which I'm certain I've lived a life that's full I traveled each and every highway And more, much more than this I signed Tiote! Guest alex
If Carr was that good, would he working for us? Probably not in all honesty. It's not like he hasn't been around for years doing this type of work. He's got good contacts on the continent etc. but he's not a miracle worker. I bet the bloke in this thread more or less saying he is one didn't know who the fuck Graham Carr was 12 months ago either.

The point was that you don't ever have an opinion of your own. It's always based off the media articles that you seem to take as gospel. You clearly don't have any idea about football, which in itself isn't a problem, but quickly becomes one when you attempt to masquerade as though you do. In the end it quickly comes crumbling down around you and everyone gets a quick laugh. The more it happens though the less likely people are to take anything you say seriously and that's precisely why you're routinely met with ridicule that unfortunately for you is just about always befitting. I have no problem contributing to "Who should we sign" and "what is do we think about this football story" or "that game". I'm in a position to do that. You definitely get a different perspective from watching a match live that can often paint a more complete picture of events, but by the same token there's some aspects of the game that are much better viewed on TV with the ability to more closely view, analyse and replay key incidents. You're at the will of the producers of the show though as to what they do and don't scrutinise. Big oh dear Ok, so it was a bit more than 12 months, i.e. still after the club had announced to the world he was our new chief scout. And the signings you've heard of are the ones that NUFC has repeatedly said (post-Hughton) were down to Carr. I'm struggling to see how that demonstrates a knowledge of the man and his works beyond the platitudes dished out by the club's mouthpieces at Thompson House. Anyway, my main point was about guarding against having unrealistic expectations about what Carr can achieve (especially given the inevitable restraints that'll be placed upon him this summer). And correct me if I'm wrong but this thread isn't the first time you've mentioned signing a 'Tiote to play upfront' or words to that effect.
