I would go for Santa Cruz and push the boat out for Sturridge, if not maybe a loan. City are gonna sign more strikers and they also have 3 on loan so Santa Cruz ain't going back and we are a step up from Blackburn. Hang onto Jose,Barton and Nolan and cover for Tiote plus flog Smith,R Taylor,Perch and release Campbell to free up wages. All that will cost less than 20m net. I can't see Chelsea having Sturridge as a starting striker with Torres, Roman is gonna want another big name

Maybe have enough left to sign Foster and fuck Krul off for a mil too

PS we WERE a step up from Blackburn

We are more likely to sell Enrique, Barton or Tiotte and replace them with another Perch, RTaylor or Campbell.

At least you got Krul right, because he's a flapper.

Yyyyaaaaaaawwwwnnnnn!!!!!!!!!

ah, more innocence of youth

The ramblings of a sad old fuck living in the past, blah, blah, blah

I'm not predicting nor hoping for massive expenditure over the summer. I'm predicting new faces and hoping they will be good.

It doesnt matter for me how we develop the first team, as long as 2 new players for the starting 11 arrive for next term, then we'll be going well (Ben Arfa makes 3). If no one leaves, then a striker and a defender would be great. We need cover for Tiote and a right winger with pace to mix things up too. I dont give a shit how much they cost, just how good they are.

CT is the best poster in his lifetime.

I don't agree with everything he says but he's a lot better than the depressing fuckers like LM

The cyclical arguments are tedious but they're so easy to avoid they barely bother me to be honest. And on the basis that LM understands both the club and football, I'd have to disagree with you. CT is just a pompous moron, on the other hand.

This forums definitely polarising into on one side who still have hope that progress can be made and extremists at the other end of the scale who are posters who appear to have swapped supporting for sniping.

It's a shame more sensible posters like myself, Chez, Tiote, Jonas, Jay etc etc can't drown out these downtalkers.

I really don't know what to say to this without mentioning the old board, you know, and people who moaned when we were playing in europe, booing when we only finished 5th, criticised the signing of top quality footballers, negative as fuck they were.

Are you still looking forward to your deadline of January 2012 summer 2012 January 2013 etc

Sorry, CT, but that's a load of shite!

I'd put money on me 'supporting' my side more than you at a game. The fact that people may doubt the clubs intentions makes them no less supporters.

As you say, we need to hope for another summer like the last one. Getting at least one quality striker in will be the key to how we do next season though because we've gotten away with it a bit in the 2nd half of this season.

realistic dear boy, realistic.

Unfortunately, we will not buy anything like the players you mention, those sort of days are gone.

It's quite depressing to think that they will not return while Mike Ashley is owner too, and its quite depressing to listen to deluded people who actually still expect the club to sign top quality footballers when its patently clear those days have gone.

correct, CT and Jaysouthernmag ought to try and be positive and look forward to Mike Ashley selling the club like everybody else.

I'm sort of hoping that Pardew knew what he was doing and told the club we could survive with the players we had, trimmed things down knowing that it would put him in a better situation over the summer.

I cant get past the uncertainty around the existing key players but putting that to one side, we actually spent £10m+ on our activity last summer as Ben Arfa was made permanent at £5m. If you think we spent that having just made a loss, then it gives us some hope that we will spend that at least on a striker given the surplus we should have made this season due to the TV money/reduced wage bill.

If it all goes on Carlton Cole then it'll be a massively disappointing summer. If it goes on a player like Gameiro then it might be interesting as we can get him and more even with a relatively limited budget.

I hope the Cole thing is a smokescreen tbh because it doesn't fit in with the recent transfer policy.

Maybe these disagreements on here between those in favour of Ashley dying in a helicopter crash and those not in favour, are just a result of us all being affected by the tension of wondering which of our "solid foundation" is going to be the next one to be sold ?

Is it just me or is this positivity inversely proportional to match attendance?

Tbh, I wouldn't include you in that anyway. Your posts always strike me as being based on cold, hard logic and nothing else. You rarely let emotion get in the way of your reasoning. CT tries to lump you in with him in the vane (sic :D ) hope that it'll add a bit of credibility to his ramblings.

Agreed. There can be no talk of solid foundation until at least Barton and Nolan have signed new deals. If they manage to get Jose to, then I'll be genuinely impressed.

If all all three are NUFC players next year with one or two quality players added I'll be impressed too and will genuinely give the club credit where it's due.

I'll not hold my breath.

Leazes, let's be honest. The only reason you are here is because every other Newcastle supporting Internet forum has banned you.

You are fighting all your old battles with today's ghosts...."who is he on skunkers, Newcastle online etc".

You virtually never contribute to the match thread or start posts about whose been playing well etc etc or who a realistic good target should be.

You are just a constant depressing noise that has continued to poison threads, even after the banning of your arch rival.

I honestly can't think of anything you say or do that relates to supporting Newcastle United 2011.

The key message from the 'who was right' thread was that with CT and Leazes scoring so well, the summer is far from predictable.

do I get 3 points for predicting Mad Jock wouldn't reply to me in the post he started, or has he got until September 1st January 31st ?
