Christmas Tree 4856
No, but like I said, he's not a perfect package yet... however would Harper standing on his line have done better in that situation? When Alex was always gonna be the first to the ball? Narh, that woulda gone in anyway, at least Krul tries putting his body in front of the ball, and looks like he cares He could've easily saved it if he'd been stood on his line instead of in a heap on the corner of the six yard box. I'm not saying a keeper should never come off his line btw, more that there is a time & place for it, and if you do it you MUST make it to the ball. Pardoo acknowledged that it was a individual error on Krul's part in his post-match interview. Nothing wrong with errors. All players have them, even the best, but it deosnt stop that player being first choice. Who was responsible for the first goal?
OTF 7560
Krul has a long time to mature and get the errors out of his game. He's a long way off being at his peak as a keeper. Is a good shot stopper, which is a great fundamental to build on. With his height and reach he should be able to control the area well but obviously needs some improvement in his decision making. What you have to hope is that he will learn from each mistake he makes. If that's the case then he should have learnt quite a bit this season
Christmas Tree 4856
A learning and maturing Krul is far better than an over the hill and declining harper imo.

For their first the marking in general was a bit shambolic and Colo let Ivanovic get in front of him iirc.

It was a well worked set-piece as well. Colo's marking wasn't great, but then Torres should not have been able to so freely flick the ball on. It was more so great commitment and focus from Ivanovic to be so ready and aware for the opportunity that arose.
David Kelly 1260
You should never underestimate the importance of experience for a keeper, it's why most of them don't peak until theyre getting on for thirty. Krill is likely to keep making mistakes (he's certainly made more than that one yesterday this season) until he matures as a keeper which is something Harper does a lot less of. Also Krul doesn't seem to make many saves. There's not many shots that have gone past him that I have thought he should have got to (and I can't make my mind up as to whether he's doing something wrong which is causing so my deflections to go past him) but he just doesn't seem to be stopping much. I was very keen for him to get a run in the side earlier this term because he's looked a top prospect and thinking for the future, you'd think we'd be much better off with him and Forster in the squad than Harper who will only have a few top flight seasons left. But the thing that his time in the team showed to me was that Harper is currently the more reliable choice.
jaythesouthernmag 0
They looked decent against a Chelsea side that wasn't as competitive as in other circumstances. I'd like to see them do it at Stoke on a cold Wednesday morning. Aaahhh, those Wednesday morning games, real killer them

I'm not convinced by Krul
jaythesouthernmag 0
What about when he came out to punch, missed, and they got their second goal? Would Harper have done that? Forster punches too much for my liking too, from what I've seen of him mind. No but then again why was Alex being, #1 marked half arsed at the back post resulting in basically a free header #2 being marked by Danny Simpson who is shite in the air and half Alex's size... maybe Krul went for it thinking "it's better than nothing" as for "harper making less mistakes"..wise up, it was a month ago when he decided to turn into beckenbauer and lost the ball, he's had plenty of spills. Even if they make the same amount or are currently of a similar standard Krul will improve...Harper won't, so why not let the lad improve. Let him improve somewhere else, his mistakes could be costly next season. We need a reliable, experienced keeper

Barney 0
from .com Of the 15 players used, seven have previously appeared at Academy level for the club - messrs Ameobi, Ameobi, Ferguson, Ranger, LuaLua, S.Taylor and Krul (although the latter played just once). Unused subs Soderberg and Tavernier take that total to 9. Eight of the 18 players named were signed for a transfer fee (or in a part-exchange deal) - messrs Krul, Simpson, Coloccini, Enrique, Gutierrez, Barton, R.Taylor and Smith. Just goes to show how great our youth system is. I mean I know the lack of ambition this shows our board have etc etc etc... but can we ignore that for once and just appreciate the way our club is bringing up some excellent youth. The same was said of all the young uns at Boro a few years back....they sold the best and the ones that remained weren't good (or maybe experianced?) enough to keep them in the Prem. The ones who played yeaterday did ok, but it was basically little more than a training ground game for Chelsea. Ferguson looks ok, but anyone who thinks he's more than Wayne Routlegde with a left foot is mistaken if you ask me. Too small, to make it at the top with his build nowadays you need to be in the Messi/Iniesta mould and I dont think anyone would claim he's got the potential to be that good. Not seen enough of the rest to form any worthwhile opinion.
tinofbeans 91
One mistake by Krul... that's less than Harper over the season... I still like him and want him starting next season, over Harper or Fraser "Doing half decent against the Scottish league" Forster Krul is a mile better than Harper. Learnin sure, but will keep on getting better and better. Don't be fucking stupid. Krul has potential but to say he's currently better than Harper is nothing short of ridiculous. not yet. needs to improve his decision making. when harper becomes completely immobile ( april next year) the balance will have tipped!.... rogerbarton 24
Anyone who thinks Krul is better than Harper must be having a bubble. Harper, for my money, is one of the best keepers in the league. I can recall one mistake from him all season, against Stoke. As for Krul, I like him and he has potential, but he's shown some naivety when he's been in the team this season. He's not ready for our first team yet by any stretch. We should farm him out on loan somewhere where he can get regular first team football next season and have Forster on the bench behind Harps. At Stevie's age, as has been shown this year, he will pick up injuries and that'll provide us with a chance to see how good Forster is. To be fair, he's been playing in a pressure cooker this season at Celtic Park.
