Guest alex
As someone mentioned, Orwell wrote more than one good book. 'Down and out in Paris and London' and 'Homage to Catalonia' are both brilliant. I also love 'Coming up for air' and 'Keep the aspidistra flying', he seems to have a real understanding of human nature. I think I read somewhere that he was once taught by Huxley but that he was more influenced by Zamatin 'We' (which I found hard work') than BNW. I just can't get into Huxley's stuff as easily as I can Orwell's. I concur. The Road to Wigan Pier too. Not read any of his stuff for a long time like. Billy Castell 0
Not read Huxley's stuff but I've read Animal Farm and 1984, and they are both good. Animal Farm is a very good critique on Stalinism, and it caused a right rumpus when it was published because he was a leftie who dared point out the Soviets were as bad as the Nazis.
