We are no mugs on this forum and take every bit of gossip with a pinch of salt and we have brought the football world many exclusives, including the famous 'Ben Arfa in Newcastle' story which every media outlet used as their cast off story

Probably the only thing that gives me a glimmer of hope, is that usually in the past, when there has been takeover rumours the club have been quick to say the club hasn't be sold, or is not for sale. But this time they haven't come out and said anything.

I don't think the rumour has been very widely reported ... NUFC probably don't know about it.

If a sale ever happens, there won't be any lead up to it, it'll just happen. There was no reportage of the purchases of Man City and Chelsea, they just happened (esp. Man City's).

One day we'll wake up and find out that Ashley's sold the joint!

If they intended to sell it, there is little sense in the 10 year deal thing, as it means the normal business plan of a new investor of whacking the prices up (see Glazers) is removed.

Its impossible to second guess the board's intentions but if we are sold it will be a reaction to an opportunity, rather than a planned sale.

On another note, the 35m notes we got in the bank does increase the chances of a takeover bid. Cash rich companies (even carrying debt) are targets for part or fully leveraged purchases, as the cash in the companyt bank account can be used to instantly pay off some or all or a short term loan from the bank when the purchase is completed.
