just saw this. On another day, you could have bumped into me in either the Denton or the Porthole.

I was in the Denton yesterday as it happens. I like the Denton, but you need a replacement for the Green Tree and the Howlett, because you get all the rogues migrating from Pendower and Scotchy to the Denton and the Fox which are two good pubs.

I live nearer the Fox than the Denton, so go to the Fox more, but I am over at Shields a lot too. I recognised the photo of the Ferry straightaway. On Sunday we went to the Tynemouth Festival and saw a good offer of a meal at the Gib so will do that sometime during the summer hols.

Loads of places around my way like. The Derwent walk is about a 10min drive from mine also places like Gibside which is canny for a walk around. A cracking pub that does one of the best sunday dinners I know is the Marquis of Granby, up Lobley Hill and straight over the lights at the top and past the Ravensdean on the left. Its up on the right hand side.

I walk a fair bit and the Tyne has some stunning locations. From the quays in wallsend, through the town and along to Haydon Bridge where you have the John Martin trail.

Further afield like where Im off on sunday you can park up at Rothbury and do a load of walks around there. Im heading from there up the side of the cheviots to the Scottish border. 12 mile walk all round.

I was in the Fox yesterday too. This old cunt right honest to god, he came over to me and me pal, looked at me and went "are you CID?", I says do I look like a copper?!?!! He gans right we'll play a game I ask you a question and you can ask me a question. I says ye can fuckin play the game yesel, I was rude, but that's twice in SIX WEEKS that I've been in a pub and someone has asked me if I'm a copper. The bloke came back over and apologised, he said he'd been inside and was carrying enough in his coat to get 4 years inside. 62 year old!!! This is Newcastle.

THE GIBSIDE is probably the best place on Tyneside to have a drink, or a function in my view. If I was loaded I'd consider living in Whickham like, beautiful place. I'll possibly be in there the neet as it happens if you're in the area cos I know you live near Whickham.

4 till 5. This bloke right if you've ever seen the film Money Train, he looked like the transit captain who controls the trains movements, and his nickname, I won't say it but it's a nationality.

Just as well, it was cancelled.

Not surprised like, the place would have been like the hoppings with all those tractors and live stock churning it up.

I'll have to see if they have abandoned it for this year or rescheduled it.

I doubt it's getting rescheduled. Have you not seen the local news. There's hell on, with talk of lawsuits flying round.

In all seriousness Leazes, don't go to the Gib unless you like under par carveries. Plenty of good places to eat in Tynemouth, but no decent pub food I'm aware of.

Where's decent for food in Tynemouth, Rent boy?

Davantis for Italian (do a canny Sunday roast as well) is excellent imo. Luis and Allards for snacks and tapas. Hugo's good as well but only serves lunchtime. The Gate is average Indian fayre. Haven't tried Barca's for food yet but supposed to be good. The village bistro has shut down again I believe (overpriced). Best for pub food probably Copperfields at the back of the Grand. Obviously loads of good cafes as well. By tynemouth is and always will be mainly a drinking place imo.

Btw , I see that a new shop specialising in fine wine and Cuban cigars has opened on Front street. Talk about niche.

Edit: btw Gemma, whereabouts are you moving to?
