Christmas Tree 4725
Ended up going to Planky mill today. Due to concerns that parking may not be available due to the camping closure, we instead parked at the National Trust car park at Allen Banks and Staward Gorge, just outside Bardon Mill. We then did the walk along the riverside to planky mill and must say what a beautiful walk it was. When we eventually got to planky mill, the fields were open for car parking with lots of bbq's on the go. However had we gone straight there we would have missed the walk itself which was the star of the day. Kids and adults had a good swing on the old rope swing, caught some fishys and did some splodging. After several hours, back in the car and off to the boathouse in Wylam for a couple of real ales and some pretty tasty pub grub. Put some good old eighties crap on the jukebox and tucked in. I love living close to the Dales its an amazing bit of the country with some dramatic scenery. Did 147km in the end and was BAKED! One thing you cant beat about Northumbria is the coast though, lush.
