Pardew: We are safe!

Just looked at the table and only been 7 points clear worries me a little. How stupid is Pardew going to look if results all go against us and we're relegated. I don't understand why he would say we're safe when mathematically we're not. Kind of digging your own grave?

I don't think we'll get relegated. We're effectively 8 points clear due to goal difference with 4 games left, and the reason those clubs are at the bottom is because they're shite.

It will be interesting to see the scramble to poach the best of the players from the relegated sides. I've got a feeling that that's where the Carroll money will evaporate into.

They're right to look there tbh. There's some decent players amongst some poor sides.

I get the feeling though that they'll prefer to look to lesser leagues (Dutch and French namely) where the wages are substantially lower. Their success with Tiote and Ben Arfa will lead them to naively thinking it's easy going also.

I see we have slipped into 10th place due to Stoke's 3 point win today. Would still be in 9th had it not been for the miserable effort at Blackpool.

We may be safe at the moment but I think my feeling of safety will come if we do get some points from our remaining games.

Ive got that feeling also where the club will think every player we sign for 3-4 million will take to the Premiership like Tiote and Ben Arfa when realistically, it only really happens once in 10-15 players from the lesser European leagues

I see we've slipped into 11th place now due to Fulham's 3 point win.

Looking a little less safer and I wonder what position we will be in come Monday night.

Not yet, now that we've slipped down the table to 12th, and with bad results for us and good results for them below us I think we could mathematically end up in the bottom three. ;)

We're about as safe as Fulham were relegated 2 seasons ago. Not all over until the fat lady wobbles her larynx but I'd be gobsmacked if we did end up in the bottom three

Surely Pardew isn't that stupid. He has to have final say on signings. Otherwise we are truly fucked.

With regards to signing players from relegated teams. It happens every year and it should be the first place we look tbh.
