Irrelevant Nick KP 0
The Football Writers's Player of the Year award has, in the last 20 years, gone 6 times to a player playing for a club outside the top-4 placed teams. And on 5 of those 6 occasions, the player has been London-based. Journoes, pull your socks up!

Irrelevant Nick KP 0
I think this statistic diminishes the credibility of the journalists. How can they serious be so Lonodonocentric?
BlythSpartan 0
Probably just simple laziness, they watch (as in go to the ground not on TV) most of their matches near the office i.e. in London. Inevitably they will be repeatedly impressed by players they see more often. For what its worth though (forgetting any Newcastle connection) Scott Parker has been superb this season. West Ham would most certainly be long gone without him.
Irrelevant Nick KP 0
I don't doubt that Parker has been supber this season. But did Ginola have to go from taking Newcastle to 2nd place to taking Tottenham to mid-table to finally get his Football Writers' Player of the Year Award? I think you're right that the journoes are strongly favouring players who ply their trade a stone's throw from their offices, and surely this demeans the whole award.
