Poster boy for the response to Pardew's anti-football, that should have said. As in, the very literal one.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah he was, because he didn't want to play long ball boring bullshit football. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he fell out with the other players.

Let's be honest with each other, as I think that's important; Ben Arfa was an exciting, affable footballer whose brilliance shone through an era of bleakness on and off the pitch for Newcastle United. That said he was obviously a disruptive influence off the pitch, he wasn't a model pro and I'd rather have Perez than him.

Doesn't mean I can't enjoy his performances anymore.

Wasn't a model pro? I think you meant to say that he was a fat shite and a disgrace of an athlete who enjoyed playing his own game while ignoring the needs of the team.

Calm down Mrs Whitehouse.

Even as an admirer of him I think he'll end up with loads of regrets regarding his own career and most of it (if not all) will be his own fault.

Aye, he's quite clearly got all the talent in the world but there was a reason he was at newly promoted Newcastle United at 24 and Nice at 28 and it's not all Alan Pardew's fault.

Domenech held him back.

He clearly is to blame for his shitty attitude and for not making more of his obvious natural talent. But there have been shit loads of skilful players like that over the years.

The main reason he was sold is because Pardew couldn't manage him. There's no way Sir Bobby or Keegan would have let a player with that much ability leave. They'd have found a way to get the best out of a talented but difficult player, as most good managers do.

By the same token, if Robson or Keegan (like in his first spell as manager) were in control of transfers there's every chance they wouldn't have signed a player like that in the first place because of the baggage.

Possibly, though I think Sir Bobby liked a challenge. He managed to get the best out of the likes of Laurent Robert and Romario. Ditto Keegan with Ginola - not exactly players signed for their work ethic or brilliant attitudes.
