But sure what would they know? some managers would rather have an honest grafter in there like gouffran. others are braver and will unleash natural talent, flaws and all. Only seen the league stats but he's got one shot on target, no goals and no assists from 150-odd minutes of game time. I'm a fan of his but he clearly isn't doing the business (for whatever reason) so far this season. If he's not contributing much in an attacking sense then, inevitably, his lack of defensive work becomes a bigger issue than it would otherwise. It's a bit fucking simplistic to argue it's his coach's fault just because he's questioned his work rate. For what it's worth I'd like to see him do well there. I think sammynb probably summed it up nicely. Also, it's not like things are black and white. Aye course he is, he's obviously best off at a club like Nice who will let him do whatever he wants, but who at PSG didn't know that when they signed him? Messi gets back to make a nuisance of himself and help retrieve the ball.It's all well and good showing excellent skills when you have the ball but fucking about when you have to defend has never went down well with managers who have won things.What medals do the three mentioned above have to show for being skillful and shirking their defensive responsabilities.
