Going off those quotes, why did emery even sign him? "I expect him to do more defensively" etc...maybe sign a player who does that then?

Before Ant appears and the old circular bickering starts again, does anybody think Ben Arfa would be in someone like Guardiola's 1st XI?....or Simeone's?...or a few years back Ferguson's?...

Nah, but if you want a hard working, back tracking winger, you don't sign Hatem Ben arfa do you? You sign some appropriate for the role you need in the team.

Β

You don't sign iniesta and expect him to play like makelele but they're both "centre midfielders"

 Once again it's everyone else's fault.

That's obviously not what's being said.

Β

Why did PSG sign Ben arfa and expect him to change the style he is infamous for having at 29 when it's just given him the season of his life?

aye but ya know he isn't and when ya don't try force it (like at nice) he plays a stormer for you, it'd be like making ginola do it, you know you get the best out of him if you didn't, so you don't, and if you want someone that does...sign someone else.

Β

with all the will in the world it's just not going work for certain players, they do what they do and they're good at it and if that suits what you want from them then happy days if it doesn't why bring them in.

Yes, this looks like a strange/foolish move by PSG. Β Doesn't detract from the fact that he's an utter cunt.

Β

Would probably still take him back, like.Β

PSG with all the money they have atm would have signed him just so no other club could have him, a bit like Man U, then Chelsea and now Citeh have done with good local players.

Problem is Ben Arfa for all his faults would rather be on the pitch, albeit playing in his chosen position his way, than sitting in the stands and collecting his wages.

He should never moved from Nice.

ginola didn't do much tracking back either. cut from the same cloth. gallic geniuses who simply need a coach brave enough to release them from defensive shackles and allow them to express themselves. two players with magic in their boots - you don't want them chasing back to their own box.Β

Strange that nearly every manager Ben Arfa has had would disagree with that. But sure what would they know?
