StoneColdStephenIreland 74
I Loved it absolutely loved it last night. Atmosphere was cracking and the players put in a sterling performance, can't think of one player who played badly and let the team down IMO I've missed the atmosphere up in Level 7 but last night it was excellent, never heard the Man U fans once over the top of us, and the "Yaya Toure" and the Lech Poznan Jumping about was canny aswell, just looking over at the Man U fans and seeing them standing about with no response was priceless, I think the fans and players should be pretty proud to have keep the atmosphere up and the players to not hide away on the pitch and put in a decent performance
snakehips 0
Just caal me Robert Capa Can someone please photoshop that pic, please? Just the front bit of the Gallowgate roof - it looks, well, scruffy to me.

David Kelly 1260
Great result and generally a good performance. I though Colo was pretty much immaculate, Tiote looked class, Barton was top class in the first half but faded in the second, Shola showed he is a premiership striker when he tries to be and Jose looked back to being up for it again. On the negative side, Lovenkrands game was all about pace and he's lost that now and is so easily knocked off the ball it's unreal. Guthrie will never be a premiership player as long as I have a hole in my arse. Giggs is what? Forty? And in the last ten minutes showed that he's still got far more of an engine and far more pace than Gutherie will ever have. Honestly, his engine for a young lad is pittiful. He also doesn't want to take any responsibility on the ball at all. Yes if a pass is on he can sometimes use the ball well but he won't hold onto it to try and make something happen. He just gets rid of the ball and passes the problem on to someone else (quite often someone who's in a worse siuation than him!). There was one occassion near the end where there was no obvious pass on so he just knocked a five yard pass to Tiote who had to beat three players just to lay the ball off to a man at the back. I know I'm biased because I think he's gash but really there is a reason for me thinking this and it's because he is! Simpson was a bit concerning in a similar way last night and when I think about it, most of the time. I've been very happy with what he's done this season and I think he's made excellent progress. But he does need to take more responsibility to try and make something happen with the ball. I don't expect him to be at the same level as Jose but I do think he can offer a lot more to his team mates than he does. Overall though I'm more than happy and have no fears about relegation at all now. When you look at the run ins of the bottom teams you just can't see them picking up anywhere near enough points to overtake us (or the Makems tbh) even if we don't win another game (which given we have Blackpool, WBA and Birmingham still play, I'm convinced we will do). Those are his most famous photos (along with the one of the soldier who has just been shot in the Spanish Civil War). I might've mentioned him before in the photography thread or sub-forum on here. He got his films wet that day and when they were sent to be developed by Life magazine some young kid working at the place put them in a dryer with the setting too high so nearly all of them were destroyed. I think there were only ten photos or something out of several films used that survived. Imagine going through that only for some divvy to do that Edited April 20, 2011 by alex

That's a famous story though due to the photos being so famous. But yes, he was well known for covering wars and getting (too) close to the action. He died in the line of duty, so to speak (stood on a landmine).

Gemmill 46192
Had we got the penalty Probert would have been under sufficient pressure to give theirs I suppose! I think a draw is a fair result and for us it's a good one. The relegation battle this year doesn't look at all obvious so every point is important. (especially unexpected ones) If you've seen Back to the Future, you'll know that if our penalty had been given, their penalty incident would never have happened. sweetleftpeg 0
I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but how much of a carthorse did Stephen Ireland look? Never followed his career closely to be honest, is he usually that slow to run/react to anything or is it just rust?

ChezGiven 0
Ireland did look quite sluggish when chasing down a player on the edge of our box. That stood out because of the effort everyone else was putting in. Your missus being injured and not playing for several months doesnt explain why someone would jog rather than sprint to close down danger after being on the pitch 5 minutes. Unless he's as fit as me, it didnt look good. Edited April 21, 2011 by ChezGiven
Barney 0
He seemed sharp enough when he read that flick-through from Shola. Sharp shot on him too. Anyway, the pace of that game was frantic, it's going to be difficult to get up to speed in a match like that when you haven't played regular 1st team football(6+ consecutive games) in over a season. This. It would be unfair to make a judgement based on 20mins against man u in a fast paced game after months out with knee and hamstring injuries. Both which would hamper your pace like. I think he showed mental sharpness for that chance straight off the bench and thats whats encouraging.
