ToonMarshy 2
There is news today that Newcastle United are already bidding for players in the transfer market, and news coming out of France today, suggests that one of their bids has just been rejected. Cheikh M’Bengue – 22 year-old French U21 International Sources in France are saying that a bid of £5M from Newcastle United for 22 year-old Toulouse defender, Cheikh M’Bengue, has been rejected. Newcastle were linked with this player a month or so ago, and it’s interesting he’s a left back. One very good question is that if Jose Enrique is staying on Tyneside, why would the club want to bring in another experienced left-back? But the 22 year-old looks a very decent player, and of the right age for Newcastle, he turns 23 in July, and it remains to be seen if the Magpies will increase their offer for the Frenchman, who is of Senegalese descent. But no doubt Toulouse are only too aware that Newcastle have £35M to spend in the summer, and will try to get the highest price possible for their impressive French U21 International. M’Bengue stands 6′ tall, and has been with his hometown club Toulouse since he was just seven years old, and so far has made 54 appearances for the club, and has represented France at the U21 level 12 times. Newcastle’s impressive Chief Scout Graham Carr has been scouring the French football scene for new players, and it seems this may be the first of many bids from Newcastle for a number of players. If this is true looks like Newcastle are preparing for the potential departure of enrique? At least they look like they are lining up a replacement this time :| Edited April 14, 2011 by ToonMarshy

LeazesMag 0
if, in the managers opinion, he isn't as good as Enrique then there is absolutely no point in this. Which is probably the case. Liverpool go one step further ahead of us. But Pardew has said Enrique isn't going anywhere, and so the assumption must be he doesn't want to sell lose him. So this is just a rumour. Looks like he got it from here - http://www.alleztfc.com/actu/sondage-m-ben...niet,11175.html True the blokes headlines are sensationalist at the best of times - and everything is taken with a massive pinch of salt - but in all honesty im that desperate for any kind of sign that reinvestment is taking place (or at least better planning) that i'm willing to dive head first into any potential transfer INTO the club, and roll around holding it like a pig in mud squealing with joy. But it has to be like - a U-boats worth of salt.

ToonMarshy 2
Because then i would know for sure they were fake? at least when it comes from someone else there's always a small chance (sometimes INCREDIBLY small) that there may be an element of truth to it? Hell, one bloke (albeit with a bit more clout behind him) half heartedly mentions enriques definitely off and half the internet and sports world goes into overdrive and gets at each others throats, im willing to hold out for a little bit of 'optimistic' rumour

Yes, I would say that would be the right thing to do. What are the odds though ? But - Pardew's job rests on such decisions.
Kid Dynamite 7182
I dont think anyone is fooled into thinking Enrique is being sold because we have found a better left back. He is being sold because we can a make 300% profit on him, sign a replacement and still have £10mil left over. Welcome to NUFC. This is how we do business now. Sign young players cheap, build them up and sell them at a profit. Forget about signing established players for big money, sure they might win us games and get us into Europe, but wheres the fun in that when you cant sell them for more than you paid for them? We are the stereotypical selling club now. Selling Carrol and Enrique is no different to Wigan selling Palacious, Valencia, Heskey and probably NZogbia. Thats the level we are at now. He's being sold (if he is) because he has one year left on his contract and can walk for nothing, if we hung on. That's the way the game is. Apart from Keegan, in the beginning, and SBR that "method" worked well didn't it ??? UEFA/Platini's expecting this to be the way for ALL clubs in the future BTW and it's exactly how Spurs did it. Going to be interesting to see what each teams "net" spends are this summer as the Uefa clock starts ticking on 1st June.
Kid Dynamite 7182
Yeah it did work well. Much better than buying shite like Best, Lovenkrands, Routledge, Perch and Kuqi. Theres a difference between buying good players for decent money ala Shearer, Ferdinand, Barton, Woodgate, and buying has beens for silly wages like we did with Owen, Duff, Geremi, Viduka, Smith.
