Christmas Tree 4920 Posted April 12, 2011 Share Posted April 12, 2011 An investigation is under way in the United States after an Air France superjumbo collided with a smaller jet at New York's JFK airport. A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the accident, which happened on Monday evening, caused no injuries. The collision involved a taxiing Air France Airbus A380 Superjumbo and a Comair Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet which had just landed on a flight from Boston. Grainy video footage shows the wing of the double-decker Airbus, en route to Paris, hitting the tail section of the Bombardier and spinning it a quarter turn on the ground. The Comair jet was carrying 62 passengers and four crew and the Air France flight is reported to have had 495 passengers and 25 crew aboard. Both jets have been impounded for inspection.
