LeazesMag 0
has anyone ever bought a "new" battery from Amazon etc ? They say new, but are they new ? The one I want is a nokia BL-4B and on amazon they are £5.93 for a supposedly new one ?
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
They're new but they're generic (ie it won't be branded Nokia). Agree with Ant about Ebay for batteries and the like.
LeazesMag 0
save your cash leazes and get one off ebay. Ebays great for batteries and cables and wee things like that. I'm STILL undecided whether to get a new mobile. Basically, I don't give a toss about the gadgets etc, my phone is a basic phone with a basic camera and plays an uploaded tune when it rings and has a photo as the main screen page. That is enough for me, and I am paying 15 quid a month to o2 for 300 minutes calls and 300 texts per month. I am happy with that too. I had an old chunky motorola years ago and bought a new battery and it didn't make any difference, which is why I'm asking, I'm not buying another battery if its a waste of time. You'd get a battery off ebay for £2 including p&p, not a big expense, if it works happy days if not not a big outlay. if you use the camera a lot and ya are looking a new phone, one of the sony cybershots phones (even the older ones) would be a good shout for ya, don't have all those apps like the iphone etc, but the camera on them is like a proper digital cam. nah mate, the camera is just a basic camera, not really great quality but it comes in useful now and again, I don't take photos anymore, like when I was younger. Having said that, I might get a half decent camera for myself instead of borrowing daughters when I want it. I've just bought a battery for £3.65 on ebay, as you say if its no good its only a few quid wasted.

LeazesMag 0
this battery..... since I charged it on monday night-tuesday morning, I have made 4 outgoing calls and received 3 incoming [not too long, but not short either] sent 10 texts and received 7 and spent about 20 minutes clearing loads of shite old texts this morning. After I had a call about 20 minutes ago, which lasted a few minutes that is all, the battery dropped right down although at the level it is now at, it may run for the rest of the day and maybe until tomorrow unless I use it excessively. Is this normal ? Is this a shite battery ? Should I go back onto ebay and get a DEFINITE NEW ONE this time ? Pissing me off tbh, you want it to be charged and working when you need it. Edit. Now, 10-15 minutes later, the battery meter is back up to high again ? Is this normal ? Edited June 15, 2011 by LeazesMag
Gemmill 44996
It's not normal for the meter to bounce up and down. Run it til it's completely flat - literally so your phone gives up then charge it fully. It might be a calibration thing.

I've run it completely flat a few times, and a few times almost flat, because you need it charged up etc. For the sake of 5-6 quid to get another one I'd do it but who's to say another one won't do the same thing. I will run it completely flat this time and give it another go. The old one was bouncing up and down in the end but it was 3 years old but was running down almost straight away then it was dead. LeazesMag 0
Right, I've had enough. My mobile is now 3.5 years old. The new battery has improved it, but I'm going to look at getting a new phone. I would like to keep my current number, this will mean staying with o2 ? My current deal is a monthly roll on contract, I pay 15 quid for 300 texts and 300 minutes. I would like to keep this, I don;t want to spend more money but wouldn't really like to drop below 200 texts and 200 minutes although I don't use that amount I would rather not be short of talktime or text-time. So I will consider moving companies and changing my number if I have to. I am told that if I am prepared to pay 15 quid I can go somewhere which will give me a new phone in return for a 12 or 18 month contract. Is this correct ? Which companies will do this ? My phone isn't a state of the art thing, it plays a ringtone of my choice, and shows a screenshot of my choice, both of which I would like to keep. It also takes photos, not great quality but just a photo, I am also happy with this I don't particulary want to use it as a camera, but the photo facility is handy. Is Carphone Warehouse the best place to go ? Can I get any phone from O2, put my simcard in and carry on as now under my current deal if this is what I do. Or am I best changing to another company ? I don't have a virgin TV or internet package in the house so I can't take up one of their offers.
LeazesMag 0
You will all be pleased to know this saga has ended. I've bought a new mobile. Nowt fancy, none of these Blackberry things, just a mobile, with a VGA camera, does my ringtone and has a radio which I will probably never use. Incidentally, my mate got a phone call from an Indian call centre the other day, who asked him if he wanted to trade his mobile in for a blackberry, and he said he already had a blackberry tree in his garden. Thats what I call how to get rid of them.
