the only one i like is the one they use for the rugby since theres nothing in it really that relates back to any of the trouble, just a good anthem.

Come the day and come the hour, come the power and the glory,

We have come to answer our country.s call from the four proud provinces of Ireland.

Ireland, Ireland together standing tall.

Shoulder to shoulder we.ll answer Ireland.s call!

From the mighty glens of Antrim, from the rugged hills of Galway,

From the walls of Limerick and Dublin Bay, from the four proud provinces of Ireland.

Ireland, Ireland together standing tall.

Shoulder to shoulder we.ll answer Ireland.s call!

Ireland, Ireland together standing tall.

Shoulder to shoulder we.ll answer Ireland.s call!

I remember some Irish boxer won a medal at the Olympics about 15 years ago, and they were so unprepared for Ireland winning a medal, they didn't have an anthem to play on the tape, so some fucka had to sing "Danny Boy".

Surely that's a bit political?

lol must admit i ran around like a dick when i was a kid singing this for italia 90 and usa 94

 I enjoyed that in a bizarre way. Never heard it before. See in life and especially football just little things like this, England really are the most insular country in the world, it's like nothing else exists outside of England and we never see crack like this.

Doing nowt, not interested in it. Got Friday off though and a couple of people have asked if it's because I'm going out for St Paddy's, I was quick to put them right mind and I'm hoping it was just because I've got an Irish surname.

I don't mean ginger. Irish are dark with defined features, ye can tell someones got Irish in them by looking at them imo, the ginger thing is a myth, unless ginger Irish are from the six counties. My Irishness is from Tipperary and Kerry.

Strangely enough, I'll probably be loading some form of guinness into a container. Anyway, I've never really liked Ireland. Plastic paddies, the rugby team and that spazzy dancing gets on my tits.

Pub crawl in (Dublin) city centre with my mates I'd say. 3 day hangover from my stag has me leaning towards a day at home with the kippers though.

Barney do you have an accent like Damian Duff?

Seeing as though this thread is about Ireland. I've only been to Ireland once, well Belfast, some of you won't class it as Ireland but I do. I know this sounds mental, but when I got off the ferry in Belfast and set foot on Irish soil, it felt familiar as if I was going home, very, very strange feeling to say I was 26 then first time I'd been and it felt so normal. I can't even put it in to words, it's the only place I've ever been apart from Newcastle that I really had a sense of belonging, I don't believe in reincarnation or owt and I know I sound like Parky here, but there's something in me that knew these were my roots and part of me had been there before.

Used to like the extra day off. Same applied to July 12th.

Do the catholics get the 12th off as well. I donno why they moan if they do.

:icon_lol: They did at my place. I think they're both classed as Bank Holidays. We never really bothered with work much for the week either side of the 12th tbh. Although I never saw any trouble (the locals were saying they couldn't believe how much it had all calmed down though). The bonfires are impressive like.
