Where can I get a new car key from?

The wife decided to balance the car key on top of the toaster while she cleaned on Saturday... she forgot about it and it fell in the toaster...

This morning I ended up with lightly toasted bread topped with a lovely melted plastic coating

Anyone know where I can get a replacement? By all accounts I believe they are very expensive so dont want to go to Ford garage to get one

Anyone have any suggestions?

You get a few free when you buy a new car

Not sure but it was fairly cheap for my local garage to get one for one of my commercial vans.

Timpsons can sort you out, if they can read your chip will be less than Ford I think.

Timpsons did my coded key but it would only unlock the door, it wouldn't work with the ignition due to the immobilizer, I had to go to Ford to get mine done but I didn't have the red key that you need to use to take copies from.

I'll get the wife to ring Arnold Clark and see how much they charge.

How much did it cost?

i have the spare key but its not the one with the remote locking as thats the one the wife "tidied" in to the toaster... and then had the nerve to blame me as I'd been the one who left the key in the kitchen

I'll have a look and see if the chip's melted or not... it was in a right old state when we finally got it out of the toaster.

my toast wasn't the best neither and I didnt realise until i'd eaten a slice

I think a non-remote one is more like £20-£30

Let me know how you get on though, I should get a spare with wor lasses track record.

Haha will do.

I dont want a non remote one... I like to feel all posh locking the door without having to put the key in

Haha erm no in all fairness I wouldn't shell out that much extra... i'll just make a beep beep noise with my mouth whilst walking to the car, and the slyly put the key in the lock and hope no one realises :icon_lol:

Only a woman would balance a car key on top of something with two slots on it that heats up. I feel your pain mate as that is exactly something Mrs Wacky would do.

Haha well she balanced it on top of my wallet, which she'd also placed on top on the toaster... so her version of events is that I picked up my wallet and the key fell in the toaster...

Erm no it clearly fell on its own prior to me retrieving my wallet! I think she knows this deep down though as she's been trying to sort out a replacement, which she'd not do if it wasn't her fault.

Like the time she knocked my £80 jacket on the floor when getting her own and didnt pick it up... the dog ripped massive holes in it... apparently she hadn't knocked it on the floor and it must have fallen on its own. However the fact she spent about 4 hours stitching it all up (and did an outstanding job) would suggest some sort of guilt lol!

Women eh?!
