Deano 0
How many players, in what positions and who would you like us to be in for come the summer? Realistically? Adel Taarabt 5mil and Erin Derdiyok 10mil would be my main targets and then look about europe or further afield for cover at LB, RB and another ST. Don't think we can afford to have a luxury player like that just yet. I'd prefer to go for Kadlec, Albrighton and Derdiyok (a goal every 1 1/2 games in the Bundesliga is decent)
Kevin S. Assilleekunt 1
Striker is the toughest position to buy for: English players are overpriced and generally shit; Johnny Foreigner can come in with excellent technical skills and then not be able to cope with the physicality of the league; there's African strikers who are very athletic and big, but cannot shoot; it's a bit of a crapshoot. We have a strong team now, so I think a decent quality striker could get 25 goals in all competitions with us, if they stayed fit over a season. I don't fancy buying from the championship, fuck that. We want a proper finisher who can mix it up with the big boys. Someone like Carlton Cole would be ideal.

Kevin S. Assilleekunt 1
Regarding African strikers, it's probably to do with the footballing culture there, where they learn to play in the desert. This means their athleticism is exceptional as they have to cope with sub-Saharan conditions, but the ball is bobbling and bouncing around in the sand which means they cannot develop consistent technique. When you put them on a flat pitch that is made of grass, they struggle to control the ball and struggle in particular with shooting. If we take Alou Diarra as an example, he has 16 goals in a career of over 250 games for club and country. If you look at the picture of him above attempting a shot on goal, we can see he is very athletic and big, but there are several problems with his shooting technique: he has leapt through the air, over the ball and hit an opposition player, with the ball now traveling away from the goal he is shooting at. This is not the correct shooting technique. Hopefully we will buy a player who has both athleticism and good technique, given a choice from the two you would have to opt for technique as this is what separates the top players from the mere also-rans. Deano 0
Kadlec? The Czech kid? Other than being class on FM i dont know how good he actually is? Does he start for Sparta? Albrighton is a good shout but being english would demand a fee well over his actual value. Cover for both wings though. RE: African players not having good technique? Drogba, Essien and ahem Tiote? I think he has good potential. I think we only need one player, possibly two, to go straight into the 1st team...others would be quality cover. KeithJ 0
One player I would put in to the fray is Gary Hooper, has a great first touch and some great finishing skills however its whether he could use that in the EPL. He done it in the Championship after all. I wouldnt pay anymore than £4mil for him

rabit71 0
ireland hooper is a shout, werent we linked with him before he went north of the border? i'd like to see gervinho or our scouts to come up with someone similar we'll probably get a french out of contract bad boy to keep ben arfa company too, that marveux guy if he doesnt go to liverpool possibly we'll also need to fill the void left by smith surely vacating the "too old to start regularly but still useful for half a dozen games as a back up dm, anymore and you're pushing it though" role
angrysteve 0
I know the guy is in his late 20's but if West Brom go down I'd take Odemwingie for a season or 2, would still need someone powerful to play up top with him though. Hooper would be a good shout too, seems to be in good form in the mickey mouse league.

I reckon there's a few of the Championship teams we could go sniffing round, sure there's players who could be cherry picked at a reasonable price.
