Toonpack 9298
Bunch of cynics, you lot. Blinded by hate tbh Sad really, missing out on the enjoyment of our best season for years by focusing on all the bad things that "might" happen sometime in the future. It used to be about enjoying the game on Saturday (or Sunday or Monday night) not about "well that was fucking excellent but we cannot conceivably allow ourselves to savour that because we're fucked/doomed at some indeterminate point of time in the future, possibly, mebe's, definitely IMO, but it will happen OH WOE IS ME". Toonpack 9298
Skysports presenter David Jones on Twitter: Tiote: Excuse rudimentary maths but 50k per week for 6 years = 15m right? Fairly large portion of the 35m Newcastle got for Carroll. Not quite such a big lump if he'd extended his rudimentary maths to deduct the £30K a week Carroll was due to be paid in a similar timeframe. Barton and Enrique signed up and we are looking at less than £10mil left. You just know this will be his get out clause to pocketing the extra £25mil
Guest LeazesLad
Wages shouldn't come in to it to be honest, they should be a factored in as an annual expense as opposed to a one off big lumpa. What's the point of reports detailing wage percentages of turnover, when they're by default claiming the wage as already accounted for by removing the amount of money over the contract from the present transfer budget. Kid Dynamite 7009
Yeah, we know that and the owners of every other club know that. Ashley is a sly cunt though and most fans are dense enough not to see it Pardews Statement “The fee is enormous. I have had no chance to spend it. We have to make sure we spend it correctly in the summer. There will be £35m available and all of it will be spent, but it would be on fees and wages.” Do you honestly think when we get the other 2 on longer contracts he will spend any more than a few million on a Leon Best type player during the summer? Dr Gloom 21847
can't see how tiote signing on is anything but good news. hopefully barton and enrique will follow suit. if a big club comes calling in the summer with £20-30m for tiote (unlikely), we will almost certainly let him go. that's the position we're in now whether we like it or not. the big mistake with carroll wasn't selling him for an inflated fee, it was doing it without replacing him. Despite what I've said it's pretty different to those two because of the relative lengths of the contract the three players are/were already on. LeazesMag 0
So we'll get double the money in the summer. Great! Indeed we will. Sign them up to long term contracts and then you can demand a bigger transfer fee. Which narrows down the number of potential suitors to those you can do fuck all about anyway and even then it's gonna cost them and maybe make them think twice. So you don't deny that's FMA's intentions then? Seriously man you need to give your head a shake. Those that are likely to come in for him are the clubs occupying the top 6 places. And not one of them will think twice about financial outlay if they feel he'll vastly improve their squad. I can honestly see Man Utd interested in him given the state of their central midfield. Still the right move for the club though Craig. Toonpack is correct when he says their is little you can do if silly money and champions league clubs come knocking. At the very least you want to make sure if that happens we get the best price possible surely. are you still conceding inferiority to the likes of Liverpool and Spurs ? LeazesMag 0
Dont understand how this can be anything put positive, if we were to sell tiote without him sticking in a transfer request, wouldnt we have to pay up all his remaining contract? 6 1/2 years? on 50k thats alot of money to dish out if we itend to sell him In the grand scheme of things it's neither a positive nor a negative. It's funny that it doesn't matter how many times history repeats itself, his propaganda seems to work. What's that line from the usual suspects again..."The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist" Oh dear. Simply not applicable tbh. I think everyone (more or less) seems to accept he's a cunt, but the new deal would make sense irrespective of who the owner was. It's not a question of naivety concerning views on Ashley. Anyway just had a reality 'cheick' at 10 am and realised this one just isnt worth arguing the toss over. It's basically just a common sense step, which people can then project their own personal views onto and both sides of the debate would be equally valid. This tbh. and the same as Carroll, as has been pointed out.
The Fish 10779
This is a good thing, but I don't think he's definitely going to be here for 6 years. He's a class player and if the new contract does anything it will hopefully settle a couple of the players, maybe even scare off some potential suitors. I'm going to see this as a good thing, but I'm not an idiot.

Asprilla 96
As I said this means fuck all, absolute typical Ashley manoeveur, get a front man to shout the fanfare for something that in the grand scheme of things means nothing. At the end of the season Tiote, would've had two years on his deal, now it's going to be five, and as we all know the longer a contract the higher the likelyhood of a high fee. He got Hughton and Llambias to shout from the roof tops about it: Friday 8th October Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias was equally thrilled with the 21-year-old's new deal. He said: "We're dedicated to bringing exciting young players through our youth academy to play for the club. "Andy Carroll certainly fits that bill, having graduated through the ranks here, and we're extremely pleased to have agreed with him a new long-term deal. "Players like Andy are the future of this club and we have spent a long time putting together a deal that is right for both him and Newcastle United." 31st January 2011 Newcastle United have sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool in a record £35m deal. My pro Ashley mate on the text already "great news for NUFC this" pipe down #naivemugs If we're going to sell we'll get more money. You yourself said we'd be nuts to turn down £35m for a player 'none of us thought was worth £10m 6 months earlier'. Nobody's saying he's now unsellable but it does show that he's at least prepared to risk the fact that he'll be here for a long time. LeazesMag 0
BTW I wonder how much of the Carroll transfer fee has been invested here? Not saying that we didn't need to be investing in Tiote but we also need to be replacing Carroll. excellent point. Place your bets that this will be trotted out in the summer.... Aye I know that but all of this amazing news for the club is bollocks is so misguided, they'd sell their nana's the cunts if the price is right. I wouldn't sell Tiote at any price. Someone was mentioning pie in the sky bids for the likes of Milito, there are better strikers than Carroll out there, there's no one better than Cheik who we could get in.
