The Phantom Band, last week. Had to be in Manchester for work, saw this lot were on. Knew nowt about them so listened to the recent album on Spotify on the train over. Thought it was ok and took a punt - paid £10 on the door.

They put on a pretty good show. Clearly been around a bit and earned their spurs. Good singer, 4 or 5 standout tracks and most of the rest ok. Don't understand why the final thing they played was instrumental. Sadly there was the inevitable hint of jock rock, where some guitar runs seem to follow the same note intervals as bagpipes.

Their music sounded a lot better at the gig than they did on 6 Music's Marc Riley earlier that evening, when it was all a bit acousticy.

They went down ok with the crowd of 150-200 but no dancing or owt like that. Will add a few tracks (eg A Glamour & Everybody Knows It's True) to the big playlist. Glad I went.

7/10

Eels tickets go on sale on friday ;)

They're out now - wouldn't have checked if it hadn't been for your post, so cheers for the heads-up. Got myself front row circle seats for the Brighton Dome gig. :icon_lol:

Happy to be of service.

Gigs and Tours say they're on sale tomorrow. I'll have to get my O2 using mole to get me tickets before general sale.

Is anyone a fan of The Music? They're splitting up but playing a couple of last shows, one in london, two in Leeds.

They're by far the best and most energetic live band I've ever seen. Got tickets for the first Leeds show, they announce this morning that theres another show the day after! Would have prefered to go to the last ever but at least I get to see them!

Got nothing coming up any time soon really, Rock am ring, arctic monkeys, foo fighters and We Are Scientists this summer.

went to see beady eye last night

weren't very good, bland shite

£30 for 11 songs aswell, a big lose

Having had a listen to the album and seeing them on Jools Holland other night I honestly dont know how they get away with it.

Was actually embarrassing seeing them giving it the whole 'pout during a riff check ths out' with such terrible material.

Weak as piss and all about a bandy pair of feet, a handful of those tossing paisley silk scarves and a newly-revised microphone technique reminiscent of a 90 year old russian washerwoman taking the village's soiled sheets down to the river. Needing a dump.

".. amateurs ! . . . amateurs ! "

3 minutes? I got some straight away like, guess I was the lucky one! Tickets go on sale Friday apparently some sort of "presale" if you want I can pass you the link? It might work?

EDIT: Sorry man I think the presale is sold out :(

The Wombats are playing Newcastle again in Oct. Happy about that as I missed them last time, we were at Arsenal that day & I couldn't get back in time.

Think I'll go to that Intro Fest in Boro too, just to see Jon Fratelli, Miles Kane, Young Rebel Set and The Chapman Family, worth it for £10/£15.
