Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

It's not a bad English accent though. He tried to do one but it was so bad that the director told him not to bother and just use his own voice. ;)

His American accent is one of the truly crap things about that film that make it truly great.

McNulty's English accent in that episode of the Wire is pretty shocking considering that Dominic West is English. :)

Guest Marshall-Baines
The Geordie lad in Green Street trying to be a cockney. Terrible.

Was going to say that. Absolutely shocking. It's my speciality I've spent so much time down there, I can do an authentic generic London accent no problem at all. Especially when I'm down there and I've had a few. Can dae a brand new Glasgow wan anaww.

Moxey's scouse accent (he's a Londoner) is pretty shite to the trained ear as well, although Barry (another Londoner) does an absolutely bang on black countroi one, it's one accent I can't do, and West Country. Oz's son, Rod full blown mackem yet passed off as being brought up in Walker oh dear, and also Spuggie, how the fuck they could pass that off as Byker is anyones guess. Used to wind me up that the country thought that was a geordie accent.

Brigitte Jones generic posh English accent is a bit ropey too imo.

The funniest one although intended to be funny, was the English copper who was a spy pretending to be french in Allo Allo.

Okay, I'll explain it to you....I quite enjoyed Valkyrie and Enemy at the Gates. I think you guys are missing the point a bit - why would Russians or Germans speak to each other in English with accents? Because they don't want to or can't have them speaking in the actual language the idea is to have the characters communicate with each other in a way that is natural, and not have comedy accents.

Same with Roman films, you don't have everyone doing their best Mario Brothers impersonations in Gladiator do you?! (Or Manuel in the case of 'The Spaniard' Maximus!)
