Buddying up on holiday

Do any of you lot do this? I know I am going to be portrayed as a miserable southern bastard but I really dont get it.

I go away with the missus on holiday and you see all these couples buddying up, night after night they sit at the hotel bar, getting pissed up, talking about the glass bottom trip they went on (together) earlier that day. Even eating together in the restaurant, night after night.

Now dont get me wrong, if someone comes up for a chat, wants to share a table and have a drink, then fine. I'll be polite and have a chat. Doesnt mean Im going to invite them to come out with us the next evening.

Why do people do it? Are you that sick of your other half's company that you have to seek out other people to talk to?

Are these people swingers? Or just saddos that are so desperate for friends they will sink to the level of kids in the swimming pool..."will you be my fweind!!"

I go on holiday to get away from people I dont want to socialise with (my colleagues)...not to meet new people I have nothing in common with.

WEIRDOS IMO.

Londoner in unfriendly cunt deeply suspicious of other people's good nature shocker.

;)

Abv; No Mates Cunt.

I knew I would get this but my mates are mostly the same fellas I went to school with. I dont go on holiday to make friends, I go to relax with my wife.

Im never rude, I will chat and be friendly...but then on my way.

It all seems a little desperate...you know what I mean?

Going on holiday because you want to spend time with your partner is perfectly normal, obviously. And going on holiday specifically to make friends is all a bit Thailand. ;) On the other hand, one of the things I like doing with my better half is socialising, so if we came across people we got on with then it'd seem a bit odd to put up a brick wall if things came dangerously close to being friendly or enjoyable or something.

Mind, last time we were away in the sun it was more a case of spending the odd evening with the only other young couple on a complex otherwise entirely populated by old fogeys, if only for a blessed change of conversational pace from the same pleasantries around the swimming pool every day. Karaoke and pub quizzes ensued. I'm not proud.

What, northerners? Unquestionably.

I'm actually with Dougie on this one. I have to speak to people I don't really like everyday, so why choose to do it on holiday? I'm the first to admit I'm anti-social these days, and as I've said on here before I assume any new person I meet is a cunt until they prove otherwise.

I don't mind making friends wherever I am, but I'm not so timid I wouldn't tell them to leave me and my lass alone either.

I reckon the people that do go on holiday to meet people and make friends are the kind of people who struggle to meet new people in their regular day-to-day life.

Or they're swingers... like Martin and his much better half.

That's even lazier stereotyping that Danny's.

Oi, the other lot were definitely a lad and a lass. Well I think so anyway. It wasn't Thailand, as I say. ;)

God where do you guys stand on ladyboys??? I had never considered this.

Its like the mermaid discussion....top half or bottom half fish? *bottom obviously*

Not fish on here BTW, no one fancies either half of that.

That's been my philosophy too even if they're geordie. I never used to be like that, was anything but like that when I was a kid, but when you've met as many cunts as me, met as many snakes as me, as many two faced people as me, you do become wary of new people until they do something to make you find them endearing. I know that's a shocking attitude looking at it, but am clearly not alone on this thread feeling like that.

However, I agree re buddying up, but if you holiday in this country i.e Scotland or the lakes, you don't get that as much, but I will say if you share interests and crack with someone you meet on holiday no harm in having a few nights out with them.

Mate of mine fucked a ladyboy in Thailand, swears blind he didn't know he was doing shim up the wrong'un until he looked down and saw his groin spattered with shit. He insists he pushed shim off and jumped in the shower, only to look around and the ladyboy stroking it's cock...

but, yeah, swears he didn't know...

We reckon that's bullshit, because if you're coming in for a landing, you're going to buzz the tower first, right? Especially in Thailand ffs
