i honestly think we're better off playing the three we've already got and using the kids as back up.

Yeah unless we're in for anyone decent I agree.

Last thing we'd want is for some past it bastard to come in, score a few flukey goals, have Pardew blow smoke up his arse and see the club turn around in the summer and offer a contract whilst saying they now don't need to look for strikers.

How much is this Indian bloke worth anyway?

I hope it's more than ! billion, but it doesn't matter, he'd be much better than that fat fuck Ashley any day. Let's hope this deal pulls through eh lads...

Anyone know anything about this Ewerthon bloke we're being linked with? Wikipedia says

He is best known for his pace, trickery and superb long shots.

Obviously scouting via wikipedia is even shitter than scouting by youtube like, but if he has any of the above qualities get the lad in!

Just clocked Stevie's new name and post count.

Can't quote you Stevie as for some reason my comp wont let me, but re: Danny Webber, he used to be round my house a lot as a kid as he was in my sister's year and he broke every goalscoring record at my school. IIRC he scored a header against us a few season's back? Anyway it's weird (and frankly gratifying in his case as he's a bell end) how some players who are on a different planet as kids dont quite make it. It leaves you wondering just how good the likes of Rooney, Shearer or Owen must have been as kids, though I suspect the truth is just that players develop at different rates, at different times and some plateau more or less completely at a young age.

I played against John Macken a few times as a kid. Not that he was a world beater but he had a Prem career (of sorts). I'm playing five-a-side with a lad tonight who was conspicuosly better than him as a kid though and yet never played above semi pro as an adult. Weird looking back.

Where have you been like, I've been in the papers and on radio since you last posted.

Wasn't slagging Danny Webber off he's ok at Sheff Utd sort of level in a Chris Dagnall/Lee Hughes type of way just not in the Premiership. I grew having hundreds of kick arounds against a kid called Mark Angel, who was 3 or 4 years older than me. He ended up playing for Oxford and WBA, was on Sunderland's books too. He didn't have an amazing career, but he done things with the ball as a kid that I've never seen top professionals do, I thought he'd play for England. By the same token, and I know this makes me sound like a right prick, but I played boys club football against Michael Bridges loads of times, and at 12, 13, 14 I didn't think he was that much better than me if at all, and look how he kicked on. Brassie was much better than both of us, and he ended up playing non-league.

Went to school with a kid called Bobby Howe who had every club in the country sniffing around him. He absolutely took the piss in kickabouts in the school yard. He ended up at Forest as a junior (when they had one of the best youth set-ups and scouting networks in the country) and was a pro there for nearly a decade but barely made an appearance for them in that time, despite scoring a corker that was shortlisted for MoTD goal of the month one time. I think he went to Swindon Town but never really hit the heights you might have imagined. Shame he was the year above like so I never got the benefit of playing alongside him competitively.

Was decent for Dortmund a couple of years ago, but his career went downhill afterwards. Was horrible when he was loaned to Stuttgart a couple of seasons ago.

seriously man, how can we be linked with the likes of him and Alialialialialialiaaliia Gerry when we've loaned out Xisco, I find it impossible to believe that its not worth our while pulling him and/or Routledge back in.

Something was clearly up with Xisco deal.

As he has played for Rovers, I have an idea of what he's like. He is shit. Completely shit. No technique, pace or skill. Robbie Savage used to call him ski-boot, as his 1st touch was so bad. He is strong, tries hard, and can head a ball but that's it.

You can't recall in the first month of a loan deal.

Pardew said at the time Xisco would be allowed to leave the club as we'd let him down, but if no-one wanted him they'd both agreed to a clean slate. I cant see Xisco wanting to come back and if he's not on-board voluntarily it would be a disaster.

Unhappy Xisco or Kuqi, its a close call...
