Skysports.com understands Shefki Kuqi is undergoing a medical at Newcastle ahead of a shock move to St James' Park.

As revealed by skysports.comearlier on Wednesday, the Magpies were lining up a shock move for the Finnish striker to bolster their attacking options.

The North East side have targeted a move for Kuqi as they are desperately short of options in attack having sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool on deadline day and lost Shola Ameobi for several weeks with a fractured cheekbone.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew confirmed earlier this week he was considering a number of free agents having missed out on bringing in a new forward before the close of the transfer window

Former Blackburn forward Kuqi is available on a free transfer having cancelled his contract at Swansea last month.

Pardew has indentified Kuqi as the answer to Newcastle's striking problems and is ready to offer the 34-year-old a short-term deal at St James' Park.

34 year old ffs. He'll have no legs left in the slightest I imagine.

This fat bastard is taking the piss now but worst of all this confirms to me were dreaming if we think there'll be any serious money spent in the summer. This is the stamp of the fat bastard and he won't change.

I would love to see his helicopter go down with him and lambias in it.

I quite literally couldn't give a shite about this. Anyone who we were going to sign on a free was going to be complete bollocks, Kuqi is just that. No point in moaning as I doubt he'll get game time.

Utterly embarrassing.

What's worse is apparently Ewerthon won't come here because we can't afford him or something like that. Now he's either asking for ridiculous wages or the regime are just being their usual selves.

In this scenario we should pay over the odds a bit if we have to, it's not like we're short of money after the Carroll transfer.

Isn't Ewerthon also fucking bilge and living off his reputation of 5 plus years ago? Whoever we signed at this stage was always going to be shite and have a role similar to that of Lamine Diatta or Ronny Johnsen. Not replacing Carroll in the window was utterly embarrassing, bringing in Kuqi as cheap back up just in case barely registers.

i honestly think we're better off playing the three we've already got and using the kids as back up.

Yeah unless we're in for anyone decent I agree.

Last thing we'd want is for some past it bastard to come in, score a few flukey goals, have Pardew blow smoke up his arse and see the club turn around in the summer and offer a contract whilst saying they now don't need to look for strikers.

Somebodys been gettng them self a crystal ball

I really don't think he'll be getting many first team starts if we do end up with him, a completely shambolic signing if ever i saw one.

If we are going to risk a sub or start on somebody who is clearly lacking in talent - we may as well give the experience to a young un' that would benefit them AND the future squad

Manc mag: Macken went on to play international football and was on Man City's books for a bit.

I flew over for that game Webber scored in. Saturday 5:45 kick off, 2 days after playing in Europe. Freddy wanted the sky money and we were massively lethatrgic against the newly promoted Sheffield Utd. Rossi played that night for us and I told everyone within earshot he'd never make it in England as he wanted too many touches.

Ive played with some League of Ireland players, including one who scored 2 against a top team in the UEFA cup. That was his peak though. I was in class with him as a kid when English clubs were sniffing about him every week. Palace offered him a deal but his folks wouldn't let him go until he finished school.

Do you reckon Ashley and Llambias are signing players based on a game of Scrabble?

"I've got Aliadière for 10 Mike"

"Fuck that kidda Ive just found Shefki Kuqi for 33 but its on a triple word, thats 99 my son, now get him signed up!!"

Just a note on him, I'd say he's being signed ahead of Ewerthon as he knows the league and language and can settle immediately.

Plus he can't believe his luck, so is prepared to play for buttons
