Guest You FCB Get Out Of Our Club
Newcastle have made a move to land Brazilian free agent Ewerthon, skysports.com can confirm. The 29-year-old left Palmeiras by mutual consent early in January and now a host of clubs in Europe are chasing his signature. Top-flight clubs cannot sign players at the moment unless they are emergency loans or free transfers, so Ewerthon is now attracting a great deal of interest. The former Borussia Dortmund and Real Zaragoza star has offers to return to Germany and Spain, but he is understood to be keen on testing himself in England. West Brom were understood to be leading the chase in the Premier League, with up to half-a-dozen clubs now thought to be keen. But now Newcastle, who failed to sign a replacement for Andy Carroll on transfer deadline day after he joined Liverpool, are stepping up their interest. Toon chief Alan Pardew is keen to bolster his striking options with Shola Ameobi also facing up to six months on the sidelines, and signing a player of Ewerthon's calibre on a free transfer is an obvious attraction. Talks The player's agent Barry McIntosh admitted talks with a number of clubs were ongoing. "A number of clubs like Ewerthon, he is a free agent and is looking to seal his next move," McIntosh told skysports.com. "It is no secret that a number of Premier League clubs are keen on him. "I am not going to go into details about who we are talking with, but if you're asking me about whether he would move to Newcastle? Then yes, obviously they are a calibre of club he would very much consider playing for." I saw him years ago playing for Dortmund, and he is a genuinely canny player. Worth a punt certainly for free. Guest You FCB Get Out Of Our Club
2001–2005 Borussia Dortmund 119 (47) 2005–2010 Zaragoza 111 (48) Almost a goal every 2 games in really top leagues speaks volumes, GTCI.

David Kelly 1260
Seen him play in Spain and Germany and he was a good player back then. Would certainly look like a better option than JA

Barney 0
Saw him a few times in Zaragoza. Tricky forward with a fair bit of skill & quality. I think I remember him playing in a mental hihg scoring win against R.Madrid back in the day.

Wiki no say http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ewerthon looks like hes scored a lot of goals at the clubs hes played at in Europe but not a lot of football since 2007...less than 50 league games at 3 different clubs and he was released in January from his latest one....he's a fuckin crock by the sounds of it, but thats the market Ashley's got us into
Guest
Bernard was injured for his entire second stint with us when we got him on a free wasn't he? Seems we were already in this market, unfortunately. People don't seem to be able to link the two though, because Ashley came in and at first spent money, so when he stopped, it appears to the untrained eye that he is the one responsible for us scraping the barrel for players. Yeah but that was Roeder trying to get cover for left back, something we havent had for about a decade. It wasnt as a result of selling the clubs best young player 2 hours before the transfer window closed after having him up for sale for the preceading 31 days. I accept that Carroll more than likely wanted to go in the end, but Ashley doesnt really create an employment atmosphere that inspires much loyalty or hope for the future, regardless of where you're born. I make about 4 posts a week, if thats too many for you there is always the ignore button. Can't argue with that, but it appears to come from within the changing room rather than from above, which is the case at most clubs I imagine. We'll see if Barton signs a new contract. That would send a huge signal to the fans that he's in this with the rest of us (as much as a non local player can be anyway) If he stalls and hedges his bets then we'll have a problem. He won't be the last to walk/be sold.
