Kevin Carr's Gloves 4001
Are you up for a bet? I bet that we dont spend more than 15 million on new players in the summer. If we do and I am wrong I will quit the board. Are you willing to back the owners and quit the board if we spend 15 mill or less?

There's no need for it. Frustration, man.

Guest
tbf to Skiddy I think his view may be the same as yours since Monday. Tbf it always has been. My username alone should be enough to suggest that I'm not pro-ashley/llambias. I just pull people up for going overboard or in the case of Leazes, talking complete unsubstantiated bollocks. Ashley being unambitious doesn't make Shepherd/Halls good owners, the state of both the team and the club's finances when they left prove that. I think the problems were clearly deeper than the 'rethink' that Leazes has suggested was needed too.

I reckon we will definitely spend more than £15m and I'd bet money on that. The concern should be what the net spend will be, it's far from certain that there'll be nobody going the other way. I reckon there might even be a 'trophy' signing, like there was the summer before the 3-year season ticket deal, for obvious reasons. See the thread about the new financial rules, and the list of clubs in debt. This is my reply to you when you asked where do we get the money from to speculate....the same as everyone else including smaller clubs than us who have found themselves able to speculate more than us. Doesn't make sense does it ? We are bigger than those clubs and should be punching higher shouldn't we ? If we buy some quality players, and I mean some, with a view to strengthening the team as against the team that started the current season, fair enough. This is what a progressive buying club does against a selling club. You know it won't happen.

Well, yes. Would you rather have spent years fighting for premiership survival and looking at the bank balance, selling your best players to try and break even, like now, instead of buying players like Bellamy and Robert who put a mid table team back into the top 4 ? Phil 6
The figure is irrelevant. Number of bodies and quality is what counts. Re-signing Jose is as important as signing as striker.
