smoggeordie 0
I know that if ifs and ands were pots and pans, there'd be no need for tinkers but those two away results at Everton and Arsenal are the difference between us and about 5 or 6 sides beneath us. We've all lost a similar number of games at home, its the away form that has pushed us to the top of the pack we are in. Funnily enough Blackpool have the next best away record after us in the bottom 12. exactly. Will we repeat 2 unlikely results like that next season ? Unlikely. As we don't have, and probably won't bring in, the quality attacking players you need to get good home results, next season could be a looooonng and dismal one. On the other hand, i'd back us to get more than 3 points out of Blackpool, Blackburn, Fulham, Stoke, Everton, Wigan and Bolton combined at home next season (or their relevant replacements in the league). Maybe. Consistency is easier to address and identify shortcomings. We will see. If the team is weaker at the start of next season than the start of this, and personally I think it will be, then we are in trouble.
Monroe Transfer 0
If Wigan win their next match and we lose against Liverpool (given the form they're in, and the fact that it's at Anfield, I'd say this is somewhat likely), they'll only be 4 points (plus an inferior goal difference) behind us... Rob W 0
I guess we'd have accepted mid table mediocrity with both hands back in August but it seems ..... disapointing now Not very convinced about next season either
