He just revealed to the Chronicle that Andy Carroll is out for 8 weeks which means Liverpool wont see Carroll take to the pitch before April. He then has to regain fitness and learn a new style of Liverpool play!

The real frustration here is, the club knew this and still didnt add a striker when we should have done! They know that Shola is injury prone and gets more hip injuries than a pensioner!

You just really couldnt make this up! We get an out of form Midfielder on Loan and we sign Ben Arfa who wont see the pitch until end of February or March!

He was expected to be back in January, but when he returned from Dubia there was no improvement. So we sent him to a specialist on Thursday. Who is reported to have given him the all clear.

Begs the question why Liverpool bought him in the first place if he isnt going to play until April.

Surely they could have got a better price in the Summer.

I suppose they really wanted him and guarenteed they got him as they had the lolly and were willing to spend it. Come the summer he could've potentially gone to a club offering CL football whereas Liverpool might not even be in the Europa League.

I doubt Ben Arfa will make a meaningful contribution this year, I'd write him off until August. We should have gone for another striker even if Carroll was fit and wasn't going anywhere. Shola is too injury prone, Best if not good enough, and Ranger is not experienced enough. Madness.

It's the missed opportunity in regards to loan strikers that annoys me the most at the moment.

Vela, Keane, Martins, Sturridge etc all would have improved us. Instead they've gone to clubs around us who already had a better strikeforce.

I agree with all of those apart from Keane who had some stupid demands for going to other clubs. Only West 'ammmm were stupid enough to pay it!

Keane + OTT wage = goals

goals > no goals

no goals = relegation

Something like that. I'm basically saying I'd rather pay over the odds for someone even if it's just their wages, if it guaranteed goals and stability. Any of those strikers would have strengthened us significantly. In fact we should have been in for 2 of them on loan, as I believe PL clubs are allowed to borrow a maximum of 2 players from other PL clubs.
