Portugal were drawn against Bosnia and Herzegovina while Croatia will face Turkey and Czech Republic go up against Montenegro.

Giovanni Trapattoni's Ireland side, who were one of the seeds, will play the first leg away in Tallinn and second leg at their imposing Aviva Stadium home in Dublin.

The Italian coach said prior to the draw that he would welcome a home second leg. Ireland came unstuck in controversial circumstances in an away second play-off leg for the 2010 World Cup when France striker Thierry Henry handballed before laying on the winning goal for William Gallas.

Ireland are looking to reach their first major tournament since the 2002 World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea.

Estonia, traditionally one of Europe's weaker nations, exceeded expectations by finishing second in their group, and would cause a major upset if they beat Ireland over two legs.

Turkey v Croatia is a repeat of their epic Euro 2008 quarter-final clash in Vienna, when Croatia went 1-0 up in the last minute of extra time only for the Turks to equalise with the last kick of the game.

The Croatians then missed three penalties in the shootout while Turkey scored theirs and advanced to the semi-finals.

Bosnia v Portugal will be a repeat of the 2010 World Cup play-offs, when the Portuguese won 2-0 on aggregate to go through to the finals in South Africa.

Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine and Poland have already been joined in the finals by Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Netherlands, Greece, England, Denmark and Sweden.

The first legs of the play-offs will take place on November 11 or 12 with the second legs on November 15.

The draw for the finals will take place in Kiev on December 2 with 16 qualifiers being placed in four pots of four.

FULL DRAW (teams drawn first to play first leg at home):

Turkey v Croatia

Estonia v Republic of Ireland

Czech Republic v Montenegro

Gazza's on Look North shortly to tell everyone he's off the drink. Again.

Carol Malia looks like she's been fucking inflated btw. Seriously, she looks like she's got a fat suit on.

Dawn Thewlis has got a full head of grey hair now as well ffs. Fresh blood needed on Look North.

We've never had a good lookin NE News presenter though, like ever. Wendy Gibson was nee where near the worst, and Neena Nurna was probably the best, that says it all.

She done peoples birthday greetings at the end, when she wasn't shagging Beardsley that is. Bill Steel, really top bloke, met him loads of times talks just like he does on the radio.

Fat Sam still harking on about the expectations of Newcastle fans.

Wait till he has to deal with the Real Madrid fans demands when they come calling!

He is a complete bellend like, out of his depth at this club and has yet to ever blame himself for any of it, always shifts it onto the fans or something else.

Good interview above with Joe Cole about his move to Lille. Gives me a completely different opinion of him.

Always had time for him, apart from the excessive diving. Always thought he was better through the middle but the 'hurly burly' of the English game / his lack of physical presence meant he played on the wing more often than not.

Appalling behaviour by Man City stewards

Man in question is 60 and collapsed due to heart problems. He was picked on for standing when Balotelli scored despite being one of many standing. They pushed kids out of the way to get to him even though he showed no resistance to them or the police.

Nigel Clough :

"We are looking at the loan market and we asked about James (Perch) but he is providing defensive cover at Newcastle. They have got a couple of injuries, so he cannot come out at the moment"
