Fuck me 21 quid for a steak, that's dear and I live down south where 3 quid for a pint is a bargain. If its quality tho may be worth a punt. I would rather eat a good 21 quid steak as opposed to 3 of those things weatherspoons serve up Without sounding like a cunt, I've had £45 steak before, probs the best ever food I've had. In a posh french place just off Warren Street. Fillet? I had a great one at a gaucho grill in London, fuck knows how much cos it was a freebie. Took my Mrs to a place near us for her 30th, had ox cheek was amazing Mine was a freebie too, you don't think I'd spend £45 on a stake do you Mine was steak cut from the shouler of the cow, called a Paleron, I had no idea meat could taste so nice and I do love it normally, I'd recommend that to anyone. One of the french waiters was gay, and me gaffa kept saying he's giving you the eye, I was like right oh then I looked and he kept staring, I thought eeh whey ya fucka. When places are that posh like I have to be honest I do feel a bit out of place. Stevie, u should have given him the Geordie male is the leanest, fittest most well hung line. You could have been in for a portion of coq o bum Just kidding mate, I feel like a cunt in a posh restaurant too I know mate, you feel you have to speak quietly and pipe down, I like restaurants just not ones full of Cedric's and Gertrude's. Can't get away with all this don't eat till the other persons food has arrived neither. Fuck that.

Not sure if that's better than the "Yee just howld on a minute there, pal" from a few month back You're all making me hungry now, you bastards. I'll nip into the cooking thread and see what Jamie Oliver meal that Gemmill is cooking tonight. "You're already eating a Big Mac meal, why bother with a diet drink?" How's about the small matter of 53 grams of sugar? Big Mac's are alright - about 400 calories, they're not bad, it's the jockeys that have the most fat content in them.

How's about the small matter of 53 grams of sugar? It's context though Meenz. If you maintain a mostly healthy lifestyle but still have the occasional binge , then fair dos. However, if you're bending light and kid yourself that by having "diet" coke alongside your mountain of saturated fats, you're somehow doing your bit to stay healthy, you should be shot with your own greasy shit. I think my disdain for it comes from my sister, she'd have a large Big Mac meal, 9 nuggets, a flurry. However she'd make a point of saying " blah blah blah, but justa diet coke" in the same way as people would say "just a salad".

I've been to every chinkies in Stowell Street over a long period of time, and they're all shite. Not a patch on the chinkies in China Town in London. There's one called Wonky's that is cheap as chips the staff are incredibly rude but that's part of it's attraction, best chinese food ever. You hit the nail on the head tbh, Newcastle is shite for restaurants. People in London are totally spoilt in that regard. The best chinese on Stowell Street actually is the take away, think it used to be called Wok This Way, got a diff name maybe now.

Meenzer 15353
Mind, my lack of dismissiveness (for want of a better term) is probably because I prefer diet drinks anyway. I'm sure many don't!

Once got a brilliant right up off the The Times foody writer. They specialise in Seafood. But aye, the choice of proper restaurants is piss poor. Ive been to great restaurants all over the country and dont understand why a city like Newcastle cant be a little more adventurous.
Idioteque 0
I hate going to the all you can eat chinese buffets, not for the food just the way they stand over you trying to intimidate into not getting too much or wasting stuff If I pay for it, I'll eat it
Ayatollah Hermione 13762
I much prefer the taste of Diet Pepsi or Coke Same. Once you start drinking it regularly, you begin to prefer it over the regular stuff IMO.

Any specific recommendations on Chinese restaurants in Soho area Stevie? Last few times I have been they've been poor, worse than Stowell street. Cold food, poor service, wrong orders, horrible meat, squalid toilets, and 15% service charges. Can't remember specific names but this has happened three times in a row. Then there's the rats running outside. In Newcastle I quite like The Waterside Palace on Fourth Banks. Also for SE Asian food there is always Barn Asia. I used to like King Neptune on Stowell street but was put off when the place was practically shut down by the council for poor hygiene - hopefully they've changed their ways. There used to be an excellent one in Tynemouth but it closed down and became an Italian - Tynemouth now has five Italian restaurants, one Indian, One grill, and one shitty carvery. Shame. For some reason the Cannon pub on Billy Mill roundabout is being changed into a Chinese as well I see, thnk it's going to be a buffet though which I can't stand. I've said it before but Newcastle and North Tyneside are rubbish for decent food. Not just restaurants, there's hardly a decent food pub in a 20 mile radius. Wonky's is the best one I've been in in Central London, really good value, but like I say the rude service is almost part of the place you're disappointed when they don't bark "sit down" at you. Proper triads place. Have you lived in Tynemouth your whole life? Do you know a Richard C (who works for Sky) or an Alison H (big lass but attractive - be about 37 now).
