Very annoyed after reading that interview. My view was he wanted the $$$ and wanted out. It's too easy to blame the owners but when you got a star player who makes a difference you don't sell. Especially when you got a weak squad.

or you sell him, but you make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get in a suitable replacement or two.

You wouldn't shut up about how shit he was not so long ago.

Someone said hes worth 35 mill and I disagreed. Still dont think hes worth 35 mill when hes unproved at international and European level. Hes still unproved at Prem level. Hes only played half a season. All this will change if he bangs in a few goals. Many Liverpool fans agree

Very much doubt you'll get a full season from him, you only have to look at his physique and height, then the tracking back he does to defend and the pace he has with the height of him. I always thought he'd be an injury prone centre forward with a few bursts of banging the goals in.

I cant believe people are giving Carroll stick. He's obviously sick to death of the owners (the sacking of Hughton etc.) and wanted out and, quite frankly i cant blame him for that. If I had a shit spineless boss who was quite obviously just a puppet of an imbecilic owner AND THEN i was offered more money to be elsewhere you'd obviously not see me for dust.

What making me jumpy is how far into the squad does this feeling go? Has Barton signed his new contract yet? Is Enrique going to sign a new deal? Or are most of the squad as sick of the clowns in charge as we are and merely running down their contracts? Food for thought.

His shit eating grin doesn't suggest he's too bothered though....

Who seriously expects "I'm really pissed off to be here and will sulk about if for the next 5 years".

Whatever the ins and outs are, now its done he has to move on and brown nose his new club/fans.

I agree but the only stick he gets off me is for the loyalty stuff and claims he didn't want to go.

Serious question - what are you expecting? That he sits and cries all the way through the interview?

I've been forced into stuff I didn't want, but when I got there I painted on a smile, had a couple of cowies and cracked on and made the best of it, I didn't bleat on to everyone there I didn't want to be there, but I did remember the feeling of being forced into it. And the comedown afterwards.

Due back from injury Saturday - miracle recovery

:D Pardew said he was 4-5 weeks from fitness in the press conference today. I wonder what else he was lying about.

I think Dalglish said at the Liverpool press conference that Carroll was a couple of weeks away from being fit.

If he did try to renegotiate his contract a few months in then it would have been nuts for the club to do so, it would set a dangerous precedence. After sleeping on it we have got a lot for a relativly inexperienced player but leaving us perously thin on the ground. We are going to have to hope we see quite a bit more of the chicken dance to ensure safety.

The rebuilding should start now, Enrique,Barton,Ben Arfa,Colo,Tiote and then build around these. Planning from now and no panic buying or token big names. IF this starts then I will be relatively happy.

I don't buy thgat either mind.

It would only sert a precedent for players getting their market worth. If Taylor or Ameobi tried it we'd pack their bags for them.

Or players who were subject to ridiculously high offers. Most people, a few weeks ago, would have said 35m for AC would be mental. He was happy, signed a contract and openly admitted to wanting to stay. One word, greed.

He's got 10 years or something to make as much money as he can, then 50 years to spend it. He's a thick fuck who won't be getting any punditry work. I'd have no problem with him moving for monetary reasons. What makes him a twat is getting Chez's hopes up with all his press releases before christmas when he knew NUFC have a wage structure they won't break. He came out with this crap knowing he'd jump at the chance to move somewhere that will pay him more.

This bollocks about wanting to stay and being gutted is pathetic.

And we're ablsolutely right not to break the wage structure for one player.

if he does return for the next game he'll lose all credibility. i'd say the same for the club if it wasn't already the case.

He has no credibility already. If he wasn't lying about Carroll, then he was the unwitting patsy of FMA and Diamond Dekka. Either way he doesn't have a clue what's going on above, just like Kinnear.

Andy Carroll 'weeks away from Liverpool debut,

Liverpool forward Andy Carroll, who signed from Newcastle on Monday, is unlikely to play for several weeks because of an existing thigh injury.

The 22-year-old has been sidelined since the Magpies' 2-0 defeat by Tottenham on 28 December.

"He's got a bit of a knock and is probably a few weeks away," said Reds boss Kenny Dalglish.

He also admitted that Carroll, who cost £35m, had found it "a wrench" to leave his hometown club.

Newcastle had sent Carroll to Dubai in the hope of accelerating his recovery with a warm weather break, and the forward had been due to visit a tendon repair specialist in Sweden.

The Gateshead-born attacker, who impressed on his one and only international appearance against France in November, had failed to return to light training as soon as the Tynesiders had hoped.

His injury, combined with the departure of Fernando Torres to Chelsea for £50m, is likely to give Liverpool's second deadline-day signing, striker Luis Suarez, the chance to impress his new fans.

But Dalglish remained philosophical over the wait for Carroll's debut.

"The signing wasn't made to cover a few weeks," added the Scot.

"He signed for five and a half years and there's a lot of weeks in that time when he'll be fit and playing for us."

Carroll has suggested that he did not want to move, but was told by Newcastle that they would prefer to cash in.

Like Carroll, Dalglish left his hometown club to join the Reds in a record-breaking move when he signed from Celtic as a replacement for the Hamburg-bound Kevin Keegan in 1977.

He went on to eclipse Keegan in Liverpool's fans affections with 339 goals in 515 appearances and he backed Carroll to overcome any doubts about leaving his native north east.

"A very important factor for us is that both players wanted to come here," he said of Suarez and Carroll's signings.

"Leaving Newcastle was a wrench for Andy as a local boy, but if he was going to go anywhere there was only one club he'd want to come to," he stated.

Dalglish insisted that his purchases would help the club consign the prolific Torres to history.

"The football club will appreciate people that have been here and had a go for the club, but it won't dwell on the past," he concluded.

"We'll look forward and look upwards hopefully.

"There is no one, anywhere in the world, at any stage, who is any bigger or any better than this football club."

Having just seen Pardew's press conference for the first time, I'm actually beginning to think that Carroll may well have been the catalyst himself.

The bit about wanting the new contract now or wanting the opportunity to speak to Liverpool being met with "you need to put that in writing Andy" does seem plausible.

I still have massive questions with regards the quick timescale between bid rejection, transfer request submitted & bid being accepted but having watched the interview I'm coming to the conclusion that either Pardew is a fucking tremendous liar or he's saying it as it is.

That said, the club still aren't squeaky clean in all of this - allowing him to use the owner's helicopter to get to his destination? WTF! This is the bloke who won't pay a decent wage for a fucking loanee!
