He's also better than anyone Ashley has bought :icon_lol:

You ought to pose this particular angle towards those who were wanking themselves to death when they backed their manager to replace him with Boumsong and Luque with the money ?

Think I prefer Coloccini.

We sold Woodgate for £13.4m and replaced him with Boumsong for £8m.

How is that different to the Ashley approach, other than the cheaper replacements he's brought in over the last 2 years have been improvements almost across the board.

stop confusing him with FACTS

so you think Ashley is backing his managers ? Stop your fucking moaning all the time then.

Something you may not be aware of actually, as you don't appear to go to many games, and don't mention too much that you disagreed with me with at the time but agree with me now about, but the majority of NUFC supporters at the time, actually agreed that it was time for Sir Bob to "move upstairs".

In any case, Mike Ashley losing Keegan, having got him back, was by far the bigger blunder, when we were only 2 good players short of being a top 6 team again, but it certainly won't be the last time he falls short of ambition. Still, you only moaned on when we had ambitious owners too didn't you ?

Why do u reckon that going to games means you have a higher understanding of football?? Were you at the QPR game? Of Course you were, youll have been one of those idiots shouting "Shooooot" everytime one of our players had the ball in their half (because we hadnt scored in first 20 mins,).... including when WILLIAMSON had it 45 yards out!!

I'd say that about 90% of the games i go to i hear some idiot shout something truly idiotic and actually meaning it...... its a knocking bet that one of them was you!

To be fair shouting "shoooot" is part of the craic and the more unlikely the player to score, the funnier it is. Well if you've had 10 pints of ale, that is.

Why do people keep arguing with this tedious old duffer when he's obviously just mental?

You'd get a more coherent argument out of Comical Ali.

because I'm right.

And they know it.

So do you.

Good for you that you have decided to continue being educated.

You get quoted a lot because people like to point out what a moron you are. So sadly blocking you doesn't work as well as I'd hoped.

Do you understand that there is no logic in people arguing with you if they know you're right?

do you realise there is no point arguing with someone who is right ?

Yet, you and others continue to do it.

So we've spent £9m this window.

Ambition?

Ambition isnt earnt in one or two windows, but continual progress over several years.

We made the biggest outlay of all the clubs on a single player and sold no one. This will improve our starting 11, so this window we've made good progress.

What LeazesMag refers to is called blind ambition - QPR and West ham are doing it. They throw money around without looking at what they have or where they are going.

It's all well and good saying woop de do about the £7m spent on Cisse (potentially rising to £9m). But Leazes is bang on to wonder about the rest.

As far as my memory serves (I may be wrong, so please correct me if so), for the year up to yesterday we had more cash flow in to the club from transfers than than EVERY other club apart from Liverpool.

We might be above them in the league after tonight and we have stadium to hold 10,000 more than them. Their owner isn't 8 times wealthier than ours, like Chelsea, or 22 times wealthier, like Man City. their owner doesn't even have twice the money ours does, so pretty comparable. There's nothing to say that they have significantly more financial clout than us.

They took their £50m from Torres, £12m from Meireles, £4m from Ngog etc and gave it back to the manager to invest with plenty of extra money on top. However wisely that money was spent, their manager can have no complaints if their squad comes up short this season.

Of the £43m from Carroll, Enrique & Nolan we've spent about half of it and have a manager desperately low on quality particularly at the back. This was an understandable precaution at the start of the season, but here we are in February well safe, still in 7th, With every chance of being 5th tonight, within 1 win of 4th. The window we've just had isn't one that fills me with confidence of capitilising on that. And this window of opportunity doesn't come often. If the lack of investment sees our poor run of form continue, and we end up mid-table, it makes us a much less attractive prospect than we could have been in the summer. Players like Coloccini would be much more inclined to put pen to paper with a club that finished 5th and have European football coming, than one that finishes 9th and looks like it has no desire to improve on that.

We had bids knocked back for Mariappa in the window.

The fact we now have one quality striker + 1 potential quality striker to replace a misfiring Carroll is fine by me.

If the rest of the money has been reinvested in the squad to make sure we can run on a stable financial footing then that's also fine by me; what isn't fine is a lack of communication as to how much has been used to recoup wages etc.

The fact we didn't pay over the odds on Mariappa suggests to me that either we'll go in for him again in the summer when he'll be nearer to the end of his deal therefore cheaper or we'll sign this Douglas fellow. Pardew said money was available to spend on players but we've shown we're not going to pay silly money for anyone anymore, which I'm all for.
